Does anyone know if HMV have dropped their 2 blu ray for £15 deal? I've looked for it in 3 different stores without any luck. Which is really rather annoying. Especially as I'd hoped to have picked up Captain America cheap by now but HMV are asking £25 for it† - even online. In fact nowhere seems to be selling it for less than £18. I assume the price is being kept high in anticipation of the Avengers release.†

the 2 for £15 offer is still on in hmv

Well to be honest with you it's certainly not great. This is a bit of a tricky release to review, as yes, it's the trilogy in hi-def at a great price, however the transfers are nothing more than serviceable and there are NO extras on any of the movies. A crime really when you think about how good some previous DVD releases of Robocop were. I have been toying with this release for about 2 years now as i wanted it pretty cheap and £10 was the right price for me.

It depends how much you like the trilogy. I love part 1 but also love part 2. Part 3 is all kinds of terrible, but i did love it when i was younger!

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/RoboCop-Trilogy-Blu-ray/13939/#Review

read the review there mate and see what you think. Personally i think the first movie is so good it's worth it, but if you have no love for part 2 it might make the decision harder.

Ask yourself this: How far away is the Robocop remake realistically? As that would be the earliest we'd ever get a better blu ray of the first movie/ first 3 movies.

I think its best to stick with dvd for the Robocop movies in my opinion.Good eextras and decent picture. Not every favourite movie is worth upgrading to blu.

Ah ok, they seem like bigger stores. I go to one on Leadenhall Market and one on Moorgate which are smaller stores, and neither of those have the offer on.

Picked up the Band of Brothers Blu-ray tin for £5 in Fopp the other day.

Quite a fine selection of newish Blu-rays going really cheap, including:
Lost: Season 6 - £5
Pulp Fiction - £5

Also, basically any 'HMV exclusive' steelbook that was released last year:
True Grit (2010) - £5
Machete - £5
Priest - £5
The Green Hornet - £5
The Devil's Double - £5

There were more but I'm struggling to remember.

Don't take this the wrong way but i'm amazed that there are fans of the series that STILL don't own this set!!! I'm assuming you're a fan of the series otherwise you wouldn't be buying it period.

It's a steal at £9.99
It's a steal at £15
It's a steal at £20

Just buy the set it's amazing!

(i mean all this in a nice way )

That's the "problem" I have. I always said the only film in my collection I was ever going to upgrade to blu ray was Blade Runner, and the only other blu rays I would buy would be ones that I didn't already have on DVD (the plan being not to "waste" money by duplicating, see).

But, naturally, that rule went by the wayside. Now I'm just playing the long game in the hope that the 6 disc one will come back down in price again. But, with the release of the 4 disc one, I suspect that isn't likely to happen now...

I just got "In the Name of the King 2" from amazon.co.uk for £5.27 on BLU-RAY. Well pleased with this slice of Dolph and Natassia goodness, I was going to post here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/In-Name-King-Worlds-Lenticular/dp/B0072HTWQW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337611491&sr=8-1

But when I clicked back on the link, the price had gone up from £5.27 to £7.99 - its as though my order raised the price? Does amazon weight items? Anyway - I'm sure this is going to be great fun.

Well Alien and Aliens look frakking STAGGERING on blu ray, it's beyond my understanding a fan not snapping them up. Although i totally get the whole not wanting to double dip thing and respect that. All i can do is recommend this brilliant set (the 6 disc one of course). Also you get hours and hours of extra content not in the Quadrilogy set.

Is it as much as that?

I mean, I know there is some extra stuff across the board but, when I last compared the two on DVDCompare, it only seemed to amount to about 15-20 minutes per film, and the two bonus discs were pretty much identical with just some extra concept art and the like.

Each of the films gets an extra 70-80mins of interviews/footage on the main documentatries disk.

The second disk has more archive docs (including the full Kermode doc), deleated scenes and silly things like the video for the Colonial Marines ride. All in all I think there is a good six-seven hours of extra stuff on top of the Quad set.

Be careful - there are two sets out there. One is just with the films and no extra disks. The greenish case is the one you are aiming for.

Said it was good! The stuff for Alien 3 is some of the most interesting, i believe it has reinstated a lot of stuff to do with the problems that went on, which i believe was edited out of the quadrilogy set. Unless thats the uncut doc that rgirvan was referring to

Hold on... the one linked from 782 is the one to get, right? As I'm about it add it to basket, but then I read that "its gone down from four disks" or something... and now I'm panicking...
