It looks like a straight dump of the 2 extras discs and keeping the other 4 film discs. Although it doesn't seem to say it in the blurb, the reviews indicate the discs are the same I think.

 The full Alien Anthology set has been going for ridiculously low prices anyway though.

It's been sitting at £17 for some time now.

elab - problem with the Amazon reviews is that most, if not all of them, refer to the older 6 disc set. The 4 disc set is pretty much a brand new release (January this year) and it seems that Amazon are doing their usual annoying attach reviews of a previous release to a potentially completely different re-release. As it is, I think only one or two of those reviews are actually for the new 4 disc one, and only one of them (by someone who hasn't bought the 4 disc one) mentions the fact it's lost 2 discs.

 Yesterday evening I ordered the complete blu-ray Rocky Anthology (Rocky I - Rocky V and Rocky Balboa) for just € 14,45 at the Dutch site FreeRecordShop.nl
Since then, it has already gone up again to € 45,95

Same price off Play as well. They've also got the Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz/Scott Pilgrim box set going for £10 which has pissed me off because I paid £16 for it less than a week ago

There's also BTTF trilogy for £12.99, Fast & Furious box set for £16.99, Bourne trilogy for £12.99 and various films like Crouching Tiger and Glory going for as lilttle as £4.99.

Yeah that's bloody annoying.

Personally I'm thinking of holding out for this - CLICKY

The only problem is that it doesn't seem to specify whether it's the 4 or 6 disc package.

That, presumably, is to coincide with Prometheus.

Which begs the question why release the mystery 4 disc one now, so soon after the previous 6 disc one, and when Fox probably knew they'd be releasing it again (this steelbook one) when Prometheus came out!??!?!

I know second guessing the studios/releasing companies is pointless and that double dipping has been in existence since the earliest days of DVD, but this just seems ridiculous.

It also raises the question about whether or not the 6 disc one will be deleted from the catalogue (although if the steelbook one is the full 6 discs, then I guess it's not a worry).

Alternatively we could all just wait until the anthology is re-released yet again inevitably including Prometheus.

Sigh.

They might just be servicing people who don't care about extras and would see this as a way of getting the films without 2 discs they'd never watch? Although it's one of the few films where I would watch them, the vanilla market still suggests a good number of people don't care that much.

 I was in 2 minds whether to just buy the vanilla version and keep my DVD box set for the features or not. I've decided against it because if I'm going to buy it then I'll have to get rid of the Quadrilogy as I don't really have the room to be keeping 2 copies of the box set. I wish I knew if the steelbook edition was the 4 or 6 disc version though, because if it's the Vanilla edition I doubt I'll bother getting it. In recent years I've been less bothered about extras than I used to be but like elab this is one of those occasions where I am interested in them.

 Does anyone know if HMV have dropped their 2 blu ray for £15 deal? I've looked for it in 3 different stores without any luck. Which is really rather annoying. Especially as I'd hoped to have picked up Captain America cheap by now but HMV are asking £25 for it  - even online.In fact nowhere seems to be selling it for less than £18. I assume the price is being kept high in anticipation of the Avengers release.

I assume they've upped the price in time for The Avengers.

You can get it for £14.95 online from Zavvi or the Hut or for £14.97 from Asda but I'm not sure if that's just online. Still expensive, sure but a tenner cheaper than HMV

 amazon.co.uk currently have Timur Bekmabetov's Nightwatch and Daywatch for about £4.00 each on bluray.

My DVD version of Nightwatch seems to have disappeared and it's a decent price for the pair. I don't know about the transfer or anything like that, though.

I was in Asda today and they have some of the Universal Anniversary films, DVDs for £5 and Blu Rays for £7. I was really tempted to buy the Jurassic Park Blu but had to save my cash.

Have finally found somewhere charging less than £15 for a blu ray copy of Thor. Play currently have this for the more reasonable price of £10.99 inc delivery. Looking at both Play's and Amazon's blu ray chart, they are both littered with pre-Avengers films high in the charts. I can't help but feel the studio has missed a trick by not having some sort of glorious uber box set to coincide with the Avengers...
