If Arnie comes back as Mr Freeze I am holding you personally responsible for killing the the Batman franchise for a second time.

such a task to find the next baddie! They must know they have to step up the game coz there are big clown shoes to fill. I think Nolan should go for unexpected bad guy, one we have not seen yet, Killer Croc or Bane, i'd love to see Ron Pearlman do Croc, tragic life that the character has would be great for the audience to get thrown at. As for Arnie, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahaha, nice one!

C'mon, Arnie's Mr. Freeze would fit perfectly into the Nolan Batverse!

Wait for the fanboy's wails of dispair at the lack of screen time for two-face especially now he won't be appearing in any future Nolan Batfilms. The way I look at it, it was Harvey Dent's story, not two-face's and he was given an excellent story arc which was concluded.

Just a bloody shame there's no possibility of seeing Ledger's joker in the future.

I hope that Arnie comment at the end was a joke. I'd have to put a "freeze" on my Empire subscription. I'm pretty "cold" to the idea. The mere thought of it brings a "chill" to my spine...I reckon if this happens Nolan's third Bat's film could get a "Frosty" reception....

Ive said it so many times on forums now - its gotta be Jeff Goldblum for the Riddler and Carla Gugino at Catwoman (if we have to have Catwoman ... which I hope we don't) !!

Since when was it 'ballsy' or unexpected for a bad guy to die in a Superhero movie? Get with the program! You're supposed to be wise on these matters.
Now for my two cents. No Riddler, please! And definitely no sodding Penguin or Catwoman. Please, please, please let it be Bane! Please let's see him 'break the Bat!'
Also, why is nobody talking about the REAL issues here! What will replace the Tumbler!? How do you out-cool the coolest superhero vehicle ever? The Bat-Pod is good, but it's not the Tumbler! And who will build it if Fox has quit? THESE are the questions worth asking! (Gnashes teeth, foaming slightly).

Does anybody here honestly believe that The Dark Knight can be bettered?

Likewise, is any villian going to top Ledgers Joker?

A 3rd Bat film will only be a dissapointment, whats wrong with leaving it at two perfect films?

Its good that Two Face won't be making a come back, when was the funeral for Harvey Dent? Did I miss that??? Or was it after the credits rolled, either way which ever villian they decide on, I doubt it will be played by anyone super famous like Depp for example... but if we're talking casting The Riddler, I would have to put my vote to Paul Bettany. Catwoman, Rachel Weisz... Killer Croc... hmmm not sure about that one, though to memory wasn't he the one responsible for killing the original Robin in the comics of the mid eighties, before Robin was replaced by Jason Todd??? Also heard rumours on Nolan having to put Robin in the next one as he is contracted to do so for the third instalment, so that they can do a Robin spin off???? I hope this isn't true!

See this was the problem with Tim Burton's versions, he was killing off the best villains (Joker, Penguin). Poor old Harvey Dent has been killed off twice now! Couldn't see the point then and can't now. The super villains are just as immortal as the heroes. Long live Two Face!

Catwoman would be very disappointing.

The Riddler would be cool. But it has to be a fucked-up, Saw-esque Riddler (if you tone down the gore)

Because its a franchise??? and its certainly not a perfect 2 films! I third can improve on both of em but its gonna be difficult as both batman and dark night are great films.

Are people taking the interview serious?? Eckhart could def reappear dispite what he says. I think its just a big hoax to put people of track. Just because he's not contracted yet doesnt mean he wont ever do it. We need two face in the next one otherwise it would just be a blink and miss cameo and a wasted oppertunity in the dark night.
In it he also says angelina jolie for catwomen?? If that happens i will never watch it!

I totally agree, but with the money TDK has made there will be a 3rd film and I'll go out on a limb here-with or without Nolan, it's going to get made.

That you were joking about wanting Arnie "The Governator" to reprise his role as Mr Freeze!! It was bad enough seeing him in Batman & Robin but not a good idea Empire! Bad Empire, bad!!

Shame Two Face wont be in the 3rd film from Nolan. But I would love to see who would play Catwoman. My thoughts on The Riddler though, I still think John Malkowich could do a very good job.

I didn't like it when they killed off the villains in the original series but here it makes sense as it did with Ra's. They (Wayne and Gordon) were protecting Harvey AND Gotham from what he became. If you had him alive and in Arkham it would've undone everything Dent, Rachel, Gordon and the Bat had struggled to do in the film and meant that Rachel's death and Dent's fate were all for nothing. The greater good, if you will. But then... Is he in a secret cell in Arkham??? Hmm....
Guy Pierce for Riddler, I say. First film was about fear. Second was about escalation, terror and hope and the third could be about psychosis... Black Mask or Hush would be quite cool too. After all, Riddler was working with Hush. Combine the two.
By the way. Did enyone else sob a tear when the Tumber said "Goodbye"?

It's all well and good picking who you want to be in the "next" batman film. But the only people I want to see attached is the Nolan bros. Chris Nolan hasn't agreed to anything yet, and I seriously doubt he'll want to either. He's taken this particular project where he wanted to take it. He and his brother are hungry guys. Probably easily bored too. If he doesn't commit WB's new brief to some lesser director will be "do a Nolan" no doubt. And we all know what happened last time when they "did a burton"
Ho-hum.

Isn't necessarily dead. In the comics he uses 'Lazarus Pits' to resurrect himself, so he could easily return to the franchise.

Yeah, that won't make it into the common sense real world of the Nolans (ha). Hence the ninja chicanery in Begins...

Wow, good good pick Malkovic for the Riddler... never thought of that one but it would definately work under the guidance of Nolan. Personally I'd like (and expect) It'll be Catwoman with the history between the two, I can imagine the tumultuous nature  of their love story (ala Alfred(s) and his loves from the Prestige) could be handled very well by the Nolans and the death of Rachel Daws would suggest a natural progression to that one. From left felid... Timothy Spall for Penguin?

I honestly can see both of the above being in the next movie . Catwoman cos now there is no Woman in the franchise and Riddler cos you need a strong Male baddie to do the real dirty stuff . Dont want to sound sexist or belittle Catwoman but thats probably how they would play it . Oh and still keep the Joker , who would escape Arkham near the end of the movie .

How do you figure?

I've heard Bane thrown about a lot but seriously those tubes in his head that get him all juiced up doesnt really fit into Nolan's Bat-world.

The Ventriloquist anyone? No?

They already set up the idea of Batman inspiring other people to become vigilantes, why couldn't he inspire a guy who's actually *good* at it, and doesn't feel the need to dress like Batman? Then you'd have Bats getting all pissed off cos he's delusional enough to think he's the only one capable of washing the scum off the streets, and you'd also kinda be getting Robin in there too, just circumventing all the camp crap. On top of all that, Batman took the heat for those murders so, as far as other do-gooders know, Batman's a villain and Gotham's lacking an avenger. Enter Nightwing.

I don't really like the idea of Catwoman in a 3rd movie, Nolan spent one entire movie justifying why a guy would dress up like a bat, so A: I don't think he'd do that again with Selena Kyle and cats in place Bruce Wayne and Bats, and B: I also don't think he'd be cheap enough that he'd have her just show up like that, no explanation (it worked for The Joker, granted, but Catwoman isn't 'a force of nature' like he is).

So, to sum up; regardless of villain (The Riddler gets my vote there), I think there's a logical space for Nightwing in a third movie.

Why do folk keep banging on about using the obvious villains yet again ie. Riddler (my choice being Casey Affleck, Viggo Mortenson/Greg Kinnear btw) Catwoman and so forth. Surely it would be more intriguing to have characters not yet utilised such as Rupert Thorne (Brian Cox), Roland Daggett (Guy Pearce), Hugo Strange (Bill Murray), Black Mask (Joaquin Phoenix/Benecio Del Toro/Vincent Gallo) etc. Ras Al Ghul and Scarecrow were villains not used previously and look how well that turned out. Hell why not throw in Tommy Monaghan aka Hitman in the mix and get Colin Farrell or Paddy Considine. So far they have only really scratched the surface as far as the complete rogues gallery goes and plently could fit into Nolans version of Gotham with a bit of tweaking here and there.

Anyone else thinking Depp playing the Riddler would be done too much like Ledger & Joker? So No thank you. Something different is needed, and Sowasred has convinced me Nightwing is a good idea. A major villain would still be required so Bats could "redeem" himself in the public eye though. As for Nolans realistic universe, the supersonic sonar radar mobile phone trick anyone? What tosh.
