Can't decide whether to watch Man Utd v Porto or Villarreal v Arsenal tonight. I can actually see both of them being rather dull games. I think United will scrape a 1-0 win whilst I think Arsenal's will finish goalless.

Well I couldn't have been more wrong.

Current scores:
Man Utd 0-1 Porto
Villarreal 1-0 Arsenal

A huge slice of luck for United, but they still look unbelievably bad. Some of the passing and first touches have been shocking. I can't believe this is called Champions League!

eh?

Where was this huge slice of luck and whilst not near our best we were hardly unbelievably bad or shocking. And seeing as United and Porto are both league champions I can believe this is called Champions League.

Not sure where luck comes into it either, it was far from our best performance and we didn't really look too threatening upfront, but we got our goal, kept possession and defended well, never really looked like conceding, most of their efforts were long range attempts that were well off target.

I just can't see Chelsea making the CL final, I don't think their defence will be able to handle the Barcelona defence.

Could be the case. Both defences get a fair few goals!

I think Arsenal will win 2-1 home and away, with Chelsea getting a 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp and winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea win 3-1 in the final.

Chelsea are the side I fancy least to win it. They play the least attractive football out of the last 4. Good to see 3 out of the 4 sides in the semis playing great football. Barca will beat Chelsea, and whoever they play in the final; it'll be a cracker.

I think Arsenal can beat Man Utd but really not sure about the other semi, really just depends on what Barca turn up. Now i'm not getting carried away and saying our league is the best in the world, but our strongest teams certainly are and with that in mind i wouldn't be fearful of Barca as some people are. They're strolling La Liga and playing some great football but their rivals at the top have been disappointing and i think this in turn has made Barca look even better. They've beaten Lyon and Bayern in the knock out stages but both of those teams aren't what they used to be. I'm not saying Barca aren't a good team, they're an excellent team, but i don't think they can be certs for the final and Chelsea will give them a tougher test than they've had all season. The recent goals conceded by Chelsea are an abberation, especially the 4-4 game, and they'll play it completely differently against Barca.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea in the final at all.

Messi and co. are on fire at the moment and I think Chelsea's defence will struggle to cope with them. Could be Arsenal's season, at least there CL form is looking rather consistent if nothing else.

As Rinc stated earlier, my post was regarding the first leg, and Alves gifting Rooney with a back pass. Last nights game was a solid performance, strong at the back and a stunner from Ron.

Pretty excited about the prospect of tonight's game. Should be some goals in it at least.

Can Essien shackle the Barca creative strengths?
Can Bosingwa cope with Messi?
And will Eto'o go to Man City

Big shame for Chelsea that they don't have Joe Cole (or better still Robben) operating down the left wing as there's a weakness in Alves that Ribery showed some of even if Munich did get hammered.

4-2 to Barca is my prediction

Really looking forward to it. I really don't think it will be as easy for Barca as some predict, in fact i wouldn't be surprised if they don't even win this leg.

At 12/1 that's not a bad shout mate. Also 4-1 at 33/1 and 4-2 is 50/1

That's worth a couple of quid of my money to stick onto this. Might see if I can double this up with a punt on Drogba to get the opening goal as I think Hiddink will go out with an attitude that the best form of defense is attack and try to put it to Barca in the opening 15 minutes.

OK so Barca can play great football at times but fuck me they can't half roll around the pitch when tackled. It was like seeing half a dozen Droghbas on the pitch.

To be fair Chelsea took a tough approach to the game and while I'm sure the players were exaggerating their injuries, 99% of the time they were actually fouled.

I've got to say though I'm not impressed by Barcelona at all, another very overrated team, well to an extent, I'm not saying they aren't one of the best sides in europe, but the way people have been talking about them being by far the best team in europe and will walk the competition and win it is daft. I don't think they've really played some decent opposition in this years Champions League, Chelsea are the first real tough task they've had and as we saw they couldn't score. I'd be surprised if Chelsea don't win it now, I think they'll be far more adventurous at home, but I think they'll need a two pronged attack, I think leaving Drogba up on his own won't work.

I was glad to see Yaya Toure booked though, asking for a yellow card to be dished out.

Chelsea contained the Barca attacking force very well last night, looking back on it, it was a good result for them and I think the return to Stamford Bridge will be favourable for them. They've got a good chance of winning it in the second leg now. Tonight will be very interesting - Arsenal's defence has been a bit shaky of late as has MU's even with the return of the Ferdinand-Vidic partnership. I think it will either be a low scoring win or draw for either team.

Really? I think its going to be tough at Chelsea. They have to go for the win and therefore wont be playing the containing game they played last night. Barca will score and force and can afford a score draw to go through.

Well, that wasn't quite the game I wanted to see last night. Sure, I understand that 0-0 draws are more common than 4-4 draws, its an achievement for Chelsea to have prevented Barca from scoring and its a two-legged affair, but it was pretty stifling stuff. Here's hoping for a bit more goal mouth action from tonight's game. 2-1 to Utd.
