Ref bottled that.

x2 Mascherano has to get a red there

EDIT: Hmmm on the replay he's given the sleeve a tug, but the player could have done more.

Amazing result and Barca were lucky to not get 2 players sent off

If you look at the results in the SPL around the two Barca games, I think you can see how much Neil Lennon wanted it. That is great coaching, great managing and a fantastic team effort. Not a bad way to celebrate your 125th.

There's a little voice inside me that still says the result would have been different it Barca had needed a win, but it wasn't so. Really did not expect to be watching that match and that result tonight.

Just seen the Chelsea highlights. As I said earlier today they are champions, that wasn't an easy game Shakhtar really came at them and played their game, but Chelsea kept going and had belief. Good result.

Just thinking about Chelsea being interested in Willian in the past. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they had a team of 'fros. They could have Luiz, Fellaini, Willi.an, David James

With Chelsea's attacking talent I can definitely see them prevail in italy.

Really happy with United's win over Braga. We weren't at our best and we we still managed to turn the game around. Especially after last seasons debacle, great to see my team go through with 12 pts in the bag!

As for the other games, bad luck to Shaktar. Good luck to Chelsea and bravo to Celtic!

I didn't see the game, but it seemed that Ferguson got everything right. Give the first teamers a rest. Let some players coming back from injury and just outside the first team have match time. And use the big players on the subs bench to finish things off.

Utd now have a great run of PL games to the 3rd Round of the FA Cup

Home to QPR, WHU, Sunderland, Newcastle, WBA
Away to Villa, Norwich, Reading, City, Swansea, Wigan

On paper there are a lot of points for their taking in these games. It could be easily expected that when they've played 20 games they'll have at least doubled their points and GD. The most difficult game of the lot on paper - away to City - they have the benefit of not worrying about hte mid week game against Cluj before it (though City will not really be worrying about Europe by then either it seems).

It's unfortunate that they have such a good team at the moment since Juventus are one of the least likeable teams in Serie A. What I wouldn't give for Roma/Sampdoria/Livorno/Napoli/etc to be up there instead.

Odds on Shaka D vs Juve being a draw are extremely good right now...

Roma vs Chelsea would be a good game. Both teams would be much better off if they didn't bother playing defenders.

will Chelsea be the first holders in the history of the tournament to go out in the group stages?

So not a great night for the Brits.
Chelsea making it extremely hard for themselves to progress.Celtic not getting a positive result in Lisbon, though to be fair its a tough ground for any European team. And Manchester United getting a reportedly admirable defeat, mainly due to the youth on show.

Hopefully tomorrows a better night.

Another exciting night of CL footie awaits

Even with City looking all but out I still expect there match with Real Madrid to be a exciting affair.
Arsenal can qualify tonight if they beat Montpelier and Olympiakos loose to Schalke04.So all to play for the Gunners in that match and one I can see them comfortably winning.

In other news:Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano has been charged after a controversial goal against Nordsjaelland last Tuesday night.

I'm not sure what I want tonight to be honest, obviously a win for us but a win for Olympiakos would leave us with a much better chance of topping the group, but also would mean that the away game in Greece would still be a game we'd have to win. and Olympiakos away are a tricky enough team, so difficult to say really.

Do you not think there is a chance City will want to lose the game and hence avoid Thursday night Europa league action?
