here's a couple of good uns - a cut above the usual all-blend-into-one stuff.

Jig (Campbell Armstrong) - 80s set thriller, involving a cop on the trail of an IRA assassin. Great characters and terrific plotting

The Church of Dead Girls (Stephen Dobyns) - essentially a whodunnit, with the narrator himself a suspect, but also a riveting examination of the effect of murders on a small community which underpins the story with some unsettling insights.

I've only gone and set up a blog! This week I've been mostly reviewing The Lego Movie and Wadjda. Click: The Fast Picture Show

Darkness Take My Hand by Dennis Lehane. I found it to be a real page turner. Its the second in the series of 5 books although its not particularly necessary to have read the first. However it will probably improve your enjoyment if you did.

Brad Meltzer's The Tenth Justice is a great read. Dead Even is pretty good too.

I tried to groan, Help! Help! But the tone that came out was that of polite conversation.

Go with an oldie, try The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsythe. I also recommnd Darkness take my Hand, the next one in the series called Sacred is also good.

Richie: You may have been, but I have never in my life. As a christian I am so tightly clenched, oh you mean burgaled

There were originally five horsemen of the apocalypse. Jack Bauer said he would travel by foot
