Ok the list should now be ready for tomorrow, been working on it today and with stuff around the house it has taken a bit longer.  It's a real bumper one chances are you'll be able to guess my choice for number one, but there should be some suprises in there and hopefully some people haven't heard of or seen.

I've heard a lot of good word about Paris, Texas. I take it you recommend it?

Having finally watched Citizen Kane for the first time the other night, it goes straight into my top five, i really enjoyed it, found it very chilling with a great use of snow  I also had fun picking out the lines from that White Stripes song Union Forever.
At this stage i can't comment on it being the best film ever made, other than i've seen better, but am convined that on further viewings I will enjoy it even more and it may climb my list.

Citizen Kane is an essential film, but I agree with you that I've seen better. As far as Wellles' films are concerned, I've always preferred Touch Of Evil.
Looking forward to your next list.

Just added Leave Her To Heaven to the Top Four of the L's.
For mine money it features a Oscar worthy turn from Tiney, pefect direction, versional style, and pacing of the plot.  Pretty much a perfect melodrama.

By the way Siegfried I see Imaltion of Life is on TV this week, having only seen one other Sirk film, i look forward to it and chances are it'll get added to the I's

Finally got round to watching the origanal version of the LadyKillers last night and can confirm to those who have not seen it that it is a true british classic, such a dark senseibility, but oddly funny with a selecton of bang comic performances. It rightfully gets added t my top ten L films.

The New World, Days of Heaven and Badlands didn't make any of your lists. Therefore, shame is brought upon you and your family.

It's simple, The New World is good, but over long and does contain major flaws despite the great things in it and therefore was not good enough to make the list, Days Of Heaven is very good, but again maybe not good enough to make the D list which is very competive, and I still haven't got round to seeing Badland [which I'm sure is great] all the way though.

My D's, I'd maybe only rank Dr Strangelove above Days of Heaven. Each to their own, eh?

I'd suggest Chinese cinema for X - in the original language so many start with Xiao
