This must be a mistake. I don't see The Godfather, Part II or Goodfellas.

Mentions For:Ghostbusters, Ghost World, Ginger Snaps, Gladiater, Glengerry Glen Ross,The Golden Coach, Goldeneye, Goodbye Lenin! Good Morning, Night and Groundhog Day.

I'd almost forgotten about The Go-Between; it's so many years since I've seen it. Must catch up with it again. I love The Grifters - one of my favourite Stephen Frears films.
Never been able to understand the love that so many people seem to have for Gattaca - sorry, but it left me cold.
I would have included Goodbye Lenin in my top ten - it's one of the most thoroughly charming, funny and touching films I've seen in many years.
Goodbye and Good Luck would probably have made it too.

Theres two reasons the Godfather Part Two didn't make it, one it's been a very long time since I've seen it so i would like to watch it again to really judge it along side the other films(on my list), also I wanted a good range of films.  Oh yes The Go-Between, the finest film ever to come out of Norwich is this a big list?   As for Gattaca, i'm the oppiste as for me it's quite a underrated film.  I totally bought into the whole concerpt, thought it was wonderfully acted and stands up well today which is a big reason it's on the list, as far as SCI-FI Films go I don't think I've seen many if any like it.

No mention of the great Douglas Sirk's Imitation Of Life.
How could you leave out The Incredibles?
And no Indiana Jones?

I enjoy the films, but can't say they should be up there with the films mentioned.

Should be one or two more up tomorrow.

Frankly, I'd put Raiders Of The Lost Ark ahead of The Ipcress File, which to me is just sub-Bond (Apart from a good performance from Michael Caine).
The Incredibles is one of the best animated films I've ever seen, and I'd strongly recommend you to give some of Douglas Sirk's films a try, particularly Written On The Wind, The Tarnished Angels and Imitation Of Life.

Fair point, but Raiders of the Lost Ark as much as I enjoyed it is not as good as the Ipcress File which is a altertive to Bond which is the point.  As for the person calling Happiness shit shame on you!

You're consistently coming up with some interesting choices. In some cases, such as A Kiss Before Dying, films that I haven't seen for so long that I've alnost forgotten them, and you've prompted me to check them out again.
For me any top ten beginning with K would have to include Klute, and the 1946 version of The Killers - one of the best noirs of all time imo.

Glad to see another Almodovar fan. I think Live Flesh is one of his most unfairly neglected films. Wouldn't make my top 5, but very close.

Nice to see some love for Happiness - I'll defend it too. Interesting to see both King Kongs up there, too.

Also, wouldn't Raiders be under 'R'?

Thanks, mate. As I said before, I've enjoyed following your thread, as you've opened my eyes to a number of films that I'm not familiar with, as well as reminding me of others that I'd almost forgotten and you've prompted me to revisit them.
Keep up the good work.
I'm currently working on my list of top 20 comedies for the series I'm doing on the top 20 films of each major genre. (Bit of a shameless plug there - sorry.) Your lists have been a help in making a number of my own decisions.

Mentions for: Mermaids, Mighty Aphrodite, Miller's Crossing, Misery, The Misfits and Moulin Rouge!(1952)

I should note at this stage that the choice of number one for M was the closes yet, I was really split, in the end Mary Poppins got it just by a hair, by half a hair over A Matter of Life and Death.  However there will be more Powell and Pressburger later in the list not least with the season this week on Film Four.  Look forward to the comedy list, N should be up tomorrow.

Once again some fine choices. I love A Matter Of Life And Death. Pleased to see that there's more coming up from The Archers .
Life Of Brian will also be in my list of 20 favourite comedies, which I'm in the process of finalising.
Manhattan would be in my top 5 Woody Allen films.
Looking forward to N.

Well, North By Northwest is a given really. One of Hitchcock's top 5.
I must admit to having seen very few of the others on your list.
My list of N's would have to include Napoleon, Nashville (my favourite Altman film), Die Nibelungen, Nicotina, Ninotchka (Garbo laughs! - sheer magic) and Notorious.
