It made me laugh once (the cat line) which is more than Back To Earth, you're right.

I am still looking forward to it, I love Red Dwarf

There were moments in Series 8, where the character comedy between Lister and Rimmer was back but yeah, since Grant left it just hasn't had that spark that made Red Dwarf so special.

BIG news for British comedy is the return of Red Dwarf. Snippets and details are now in full flow and its looking fairly reasonable thus far, difficult to tell of course but I won't hold my breath after the last few series.

Still good news for all Dwarfers

I've just started working for UKTV and from what I've heard from those who've been involved with it, they've said it is very good. But then again, I guess they wouldn't say it was shit!

I'm hoping we'll get a preview screening of it so will let you know if we do!

Unfortunately they were locked in a room all day doing press interviews so only got to see them en route to the bog! The girls in the press team who were looking after them said they were all great. And I was talking to one of them last night and she has all the new eps on her computer! So may well get to see them early.

We've got a showcase event tomorrow where there's going to be a screening of the first episode, followed by a Q&A with Chris Barrie...I'll ask what I can and can't reveal tomorrow and let you know!

I'm allowed to say that I've seen it, and that I enjoyed it! No spoilers, obviously. Not that I would anyway. I can also say tune in on 4th Oct on Dave...but you already know that! I missed the Q&A with Chris Barrie as I had to go to a preview of a new David Attenborough show we're doing, which was incredible. To hear the man himself give us some great anecdotes was amazing.

Lister looks like Slash would if he let himself go and squandered his wealth.

So - have they realised 9 was really poor? Will 10 be worth it?

They filmed with an audience. I'm enjoying it, not brilliant yet, but give it time.

Did they? Because the laughter does sound like an on/off switch of the same bit of laughter over and over.

Still - more smiles in the first half than the entire S9 so not bad.

Well I enjoyed it - it went back to the character interactions that made it work best.

Just what I was thinking.

Not sure about Kryten's new head design, though, his face seemed less expressive.

Yeah it was more like Red Dwarf of old. I always think the best Red Dwarf episodes could be set in any genre. Sometimes when they overdo the sci-fi or the production values, something is lost.

Rimmer is still Rimmer, which is great. Wonder how they will explain him kicking the Grim Reaper in the nuts all those years ago?
