Skiba, if you work for Dave do you know if it's them that decide what the Sky Plus Link does? Because it's not linking to the next in S10 but the next Red Dwarf epi. Thanks to which cock-up last night I only have half of Hunted recorded as my husband didn't notice the clash, that shouldn't have been there anyway. when he turned over.

No. That would be a technical Sky thing. I've not got Sky but can't you choose to link all episodes this week, or link just this episode? i.e. it'll just record the episode in that time slot each week?

You'd have to do that manually. Series link is supposed to link a TV series but last night it linked the 1st epi of S10 to the repeat of S7 just after - so it seems to be linking any play of Red Dwarf which is just weird!

That is strange, you'd think it'd know the distinction between the Roman Numerals.

Cat wandering past the Simulant.

Forgot about that, with the map in hand. That was wonderful.

That was it. Seriously, Cat owned this episode.

Yup. That is when RD is at its best in my opinion, when John-Jules is on form and gets the best gags.

I really enjoyed it; it was great to see the team back again and filming the way it was when it was at its best. I laughed out load several times, and rewound a few moments again which is always a good sign. A fine start!

It was so weird seeing him back in costume after Death in Paradise too.

Much better on second viewing. Still love the moose part and the Cat walking past with the map. Even the stirmaster gag worked better without the expectation. Roll on Thursday.

Always been a massive fan and I have to add I was feeling the upbeat vibes to throw backs of past form in this new episode after a few recent blips or two.
Loved the "stirmaster" scenerio and Cat.. well he was always my favourite was just sublime.
Welcome back Red Dwarf,we missed you so.

My expectations were VERY low, so I'm pleased to say by the time it finished I was looking forward to the next episode.

Thanks. I haven't seen that episode in years. I didn't like this week's episode as much as the opener. The father stuff / Chinese whispers gag didn't really work but the new computer storyline was excellent.

I didn't think it was as good as the opener but it was still bloody better than anything in Back To Earth. And as long as it keeps up with the classic Dwarf stuff (the 'umm...what?' way they get out of danger) it'll do ok.

2 episodes in & still no sign of The Scutters!!!
Although saying that thought 2nd episode was a vast improvement on the somewhat average 1st.

I was sort of hoping they'd forget series 7...

That was ok. Liked the first episode a lot more, despite higher expectations caused by...well you guys really.

Not as good as the first, still okay though.

Didn't like the Chinese whispers running gag, it never quite had the pay off the similar 'Stir-Master' gag from Episode 1 did. I quite liked some of the Father/SOn stuff, particularly the video tape chat. I've always liked how Dwarf never really feels the need to try to seriously explain the mix of absurd sci-fi ideas (Lister being his own dad) and the rather retro nature of the real world stuff (shopping trolleys, traffic cones on a spaceship hundreds of years in the future). Somehow it all just falls into place and makes sense. It must be difficult to pull that off.

The first half of 'Lemons' was kind of naff but once they met Jesus it got a bit better. Still not as good as the first episode but had a couple of funny gags and I did like the ending.

Tonight's new episode was just OK, the last two episodes are gonna have to be something special to stop this from being a total letdown.

So, this Rimmer is the original Rimmer.........?

The Cat had some good moments and the plot was a bit of a brainscratcher like all good Dwarf but the ending was terrible. Couldn't they have found a better way to get the Prof to leave? That was just cruel.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think it's easier/better to just go with it.

They seem to be ignoring much of Series 8, except for the fact that they're back on Red Dwarf.

Indeed, unless being Ace didn't change Rimmer one bit.

Had some great moments - the funniest being the reference to Series 3 when Kryten and Lister appear to be 'bonking', this time with Lister on top of a vending machine - but was a little too disjointed plot wise.

Yeah, it was very disjointed but that was because the vending machine plot was added last minute. And I mean last minute, the sets had to be rebuilt, according to SFX-

quote:

BEHIND-THE-SCENES The whole vending machine subplot was a very late addition, and indeed wasn’t even filmed before a live studio audience, but recorded later and edited in. Some scenes were filmed even later than that, in a third reshoot that took place after the sets had been taken down. The whole Subuteo scene and following conversation, for example, were filmed in front of a green screen, though it’s near impossible to spot unless you know. The laughter track for all these scenes is “real” though – the extra footage was shown to a specially-invited audience.
