Okay, for me... 1. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - a beautiful story, told with the quality of a 1940s Hollywood romance, I still regard it as the greatest rendition of Batman ever. 2. Batman Begins - I'd place it ahead of The Dark Knight, purely because it was the first blockbuster released in my lifetime that really proposed some serious 'ideas' - films like Spiderman just left me really empty. 3. The Dark Knight - Well, a very close third - I mean this was the perfect Batman film made without the burden of origins, and boy, did the shit really did hit the fan. 4. Batman - Dated as hell, largely due to Prince, but nevertheless important and iconic. 5. Batman Returns - For me, Michelle Pfieffer has given the best female perfomance in any Batman film - and I'd put this here purely for that. I wish if they run with a third Nolan movie, they introduce an alluring femme fatale - the only criticism I have with Begins and TDK is that the female characters were so underwritten.
