Strange not to mention this film is based on the book by Danny Wallace.

And not just any old book by Danny Wallace, a freakin' hilarious one!  It's the one book I've read that genuinely made me laugh out loud.  I really hope they keep some of the scenarios from the book in the film, especially when Danny ends up bumping into his ex who's out on a first date with a new guy and inadvertantly ends up going for dinner with them.  Also the whole sub plot where his secret nemesis keeps trying to make him fail his mission.  I hope the genuis of the whole thing doesn't get lost in the translation to American humour!!!

Was very anti this when I heard about it. Love Danny Wallace and Dave Gormans books. Jim Carrey just didn' seem to fit. He's so very BIG and American and Danny is so British. Also, for every good Jim Carrey film there's a couple of stinkers. However, I saw Danny in an interview (Sunday Kitchen or something) and he was very balanced about it, he didn't want to be too "precious" (his word) about it. So fingers crossed. Just don't get me started on how wrong the American 'Spaced' series will be.! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Needs an "http//" removing, yes?

Watched the trailer though, looks good so far...let's hope the whole film is.

It seems to have kept the loose premise from the book, and to echo a former post, I do hope they keep scenes such as the ex at dinner.
On a positive, it has Murray from Flight of the Conchords!

I think its been canned, lets hope so eh?
Looks like a return to form from Carrey, not sure about the self help programme thing though, why could they have not just done a straight forward adaptation? Damned Americans.

reading the book at the mo...got Friends Like These for my birthday and bought his other 2 and tv series straight after. Really liking his stuff.
tbh tho I really cant see the film being all that good...I like the whole slightly odd, britishness to the books. jim careys usual comedy is pretty much the exact opposite

maybe i will be wrong tho...

We all know this is going to be bad, carrey badly cast as the yesman. Its basically going to be stealing the idea of the book and not using anything from it at all? (well maybe they may have the getting out of a fight by saying yes to everything? Looks like its in the trailer?)
And why isnt the carrey called danny???

I found it hard to concentrate on the rest of the trailer once I saw Rhys Darby in it - my mind kept wandering back to hiliarious Flight of the Conchords moments! Funny actor, funny stand-up too.

As for the film, trailer is so-so. Very Liar Liar-esque alright, so am ambivalent at best at this stage.

I can't help but think that this woulda suited the source material's British setting with either Simon Pegg, Dylan Moran or Nick Frost as the Yes Man.
