This film cannot be claimed by Christian Bale. Heath Ledger still owns this movie.

Christopher Nolan has given us Bat-Fans the movies we deserve. Has to be said, he has his work cut out with the next one, starting with the title. 'The Dark Knight Rises'? I preferred 'Gotham'.

Since the movie started, I was astonished, my eyes never left the screen .Christian Bale did a really good job depicting as batman, he fitted the part well, but how did they really pull this off? How is it the best batman movie ever? the joker of course, Heath Ledger does an amazing job of acting the part as the infamous Joker, a much darker joker than Jack Nicholson ever was. He was worthy of his oscar.

Heath Ledger was incredible as the infamous Joker, In my opinion he played it better than Nicholson.

I thought The joker could of been in it more but hey the scenes he was in, he stole from Bale.

Ive watched this film on average once every 3 months and it never ceases to entertain.

Well done Nolan

Whilst no-one should or can underestimate Ledger's performance and impact on this movie, the reality is that the Dark Knight is more than just its main villain. This is no Nicholson, Pfeifer or Carrey stealing the show away from Batman because Christian Bale gives just as impressive (albeit comparitively low key) performance but his role is a more pivotal one. If Batman Begins was about Bruce Wayne then the DK is about Batman and his story of the hero he wants to be and the goals he wants to achieve. Aided by the sublime Gary Oldman and Aaron Eckhart, this is a rich tale about morality as well as sacrifice and whilst it lacks humour it makes up for with action and drama.

This film is good. Great. Freaking fanstic. It rights all the wrongs of Batman Begins and really brings the Caped Crusader back from the Joel Schumacher films. This film could give the Burton Batman a (slight!) run for it's money. Christian Bale will always be the best Batman ever, but the Oscar should really be going to Heath Ledger for a stunning Joker. I cannot point out anything wrong with this movie, although the plot was a little iffy. All-in-all, a stunning return for the Batman saga. We can only hope that the next one is just as good.

.....Although i thought the acting and all technical aspects of the film were very good, i found the tone almost unbearably bleak. It is a rare blockbuster film that i would be quite happy to never see again-far too dark and depressing for me.

Can Nolan top this masterpiece? Who knows...? Inception was pretty amazing, this film is brilliant! But can he do it again....
To be honest....I don’t care....I will still watch this sequel again and again.
Heath rips up the Joker and throws it at the audience like a grenade....the boy did his research with looking through extensive comics and then deciding to do his own take, like so many artists in comics have!
Love the scope and look and the bleakness.

Bring on Bane, and whomever else Nolan wants to throw at Batman...
It will survive....

Batman Begins‘ ending was a brilliant nod towards the things that were to come, as Gary Oldman’s, newly promoted Lieutenant Jim Gordon flashes The Joker’s calling card, Batman’s revival had now well and truly begun. A film with lesser known villains was about to retread more familiar ground with the introduction of The Joker and Harvey Dent/Two Face.

But this was Christopher Nolan’s more grounded take on the superhero, and his villains needed to be much more than the hammy caricatures that we’d seen before. The late Heath Ledger made the role of The Joker his own in ways that no-one could have imagined. This was a dark, evil and terrifying take on the character with an evil sense if humour but he is in keeping with the villain that we know so well.

The origins of the Dark Knight were covered expertly in the first film, and now it is time to take that story one step further, so consequently this is now more about crime in Gotham City. The criminal underworld is now in turmoil as Batman, Gordon and the new District Attorney, Harvey Dent are leaning on them, but when things turn ugly, they turn ugly!

The beauty of this film is that it takes off pretty much from where the first left off, but the tone has changed a bit. This owes a lot to Michael Mann’s, Heat, and focuses much more on Wayne/Batman’s attempts to rid the city of crime, whilst his opposite and nemesis, The Joker, is proving himself to be nothing less than a pure anarchist, unreasonable and nonnegotiable.

Is this better than Batman Begins? Yes, but only fractionally. It’s slightly tighter and more complex, with every set piece seamlessly moving on to the next complex sequence, where the grand plan is rarely what it appears to be. The film’s narrative is deceptive, playing with its characters and the audience alike. This is film-making at it’s very best. The perfect blend of grand direction, passionate character development and perf

Action packed yet intelligent. All the main players are great especially Ledger. He plays the role making the character alive with a strange sense of believity and charisma. The ending aims for something profound rather than a dramatic conclusion and succeeds excellantly. In fact the entire film seems to express something much deeper. Then there is batman himself - possibly the greatest superhero - played by Bale, a character concerned with his role and future as The Dark Knight of gotham or face reality, step down and allow a human face to bring justice to the city. In the conclusion it seems apparent that he has finally chosen. That justice much exclude emotion and personal feelings and that he must remain as a symbol to stand against criminals. Deep stuff - 5 stars

Batman Begins was amazing, but this is even better. Of course Ledger is outstanding in this, but the notion that he is the reason the film is so good is ridiculous. This isn't just a superhero/comic book movie, but a crime epic. An inteligent, dark and political movie aswell as a brilliant action movie. One of my favorite films that I can watch over and over and still keep the same opinion of it.

I believe this is one of the best movies of our generation, Christopher nolan has had a great sucess, christian bale has made a fantastic performance, but his spotlight was stolen by the late Health Ledger, who blew me away with his stunning performance, and it is a great tragedy that he is no longer with us. the thing i love about this movie is that it is so unusual and surprising, it is the last thing you expect from a superhero movie, usually the hero is praised and awarded with fans and love for everyone he has saved, but in these circumstances, he is hated in the end, and the hero is hated, which leaves big questions as to what could happen in the sequel, and i have no idea what Christopher Nolan is hiding up his sleeve. Having said about Christian Bale and Heath Leder, i also believe there were stunning performances from Aaron Eckhart, Micheal Cane, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. I think i preferred Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaal

Dark, complex and unforgettable, The Dark Knight succeeds not just as an entertaining comic book film, but as a richly thrilling crime saga, and makes Batman Begins look like Batman & Robin.

Well, we're a step up from Begins, at least. Heath Ledger IS incredible in this film (hence the extra star), it has to be said. But his performances is not nearly enough to sustain this colossal turd for the entire amount of time it was being burned into my retinas or shoved down my throat. The story is EXTREMELY underwritten, and has one scenario that is SO unnecessary, SO ridiculously stupid, there should be an inquiry launched into why it got any further than the cutting process. The dark nature of the reboot has again been exploited to make the film feel more 'adult', but really it just ends up feeling like a child trying to act grown up. It's batman, for Chrissake. It's like telling people you're 18 when you're 8. Ultimately, the film was forgettable, and will definitely go down in my memory as a bitter disappointment, and an extremely unpleasant experience in every way.

the over dramatic and tedious dialogue lured this film into a stale and rather tasteless affair. bale came across as a slime bag who you could have cared less for. ledger was over hyped, i found jack nicholson just as good in the first. the plot was scattered over an unrealistic maze of events which left me feelin tired and bored. was the death of ledger a sympathetic vote for this film? wank

And Gary Oldman's Gordon is also the equal of those two, each of them totally committed to the kind of role they are playing, with Aaron Eckhart also excelling, his naively hopeful Dent at the start neatly filtering in the Two-Face traits over the course of the film long before the death of Rachel (his performance constantly evolving until the love for Rachel that makes him put a gun to someone's head for her becomes fully corrupted by events).

Some people think the bombs on boats stuff is tacked on. No, it's totally tied in to the characters stories, narratively playing out Rachel's request, never relayed to Bruce because Alfred burns her letter, that 'Even if you lose your faith in me, never lose your faith in people'. Batman keeps that faith, keeping faith with her, without even knowing he is doing this. The Joker has no faith in people at all. Harvey/Two Face loses his faith (We thought we could be decent men, in an indecent time).

And given what little is already known of the events of rises, TDK now seems a small, intimate story.

This suggests that Bale played a slime bag about whom you cared, even a small amount.

Just saying...

Classic film with Ledger stealing the show.
Bale was irrelevant-Adam Sandler could have been Batman.

On first seeing this at the cinema, I had already seen Batman Begins and absolutely adored Christian Bale and Heath Ledger beforehand, so there was no doubt in my mind that the sequel to the best Batman offering ever would be anything less than brilliant, but nothing prepared me for the actual result. BOLDLY, the film usurps the first in terms of film noir homage and gothic criminal hysteria, and then manages to intertwine Harvery Dent's political rise as the White Knight of Gotham City, adding yet another layer of well-formed story arc to the tightly-knit script, whereby everything goes on separately as Batman struggles with his persona and vigilante double life, at once fighting crime and then attempting to play out his other mask as Bruce Wayne. And then comes the star of the show, Ledger's astonishing, punk anarchist The Joker, whose final performance is fitting to the actor's personality - dark, flawed, and powerful. Although The Joker is no doubt the best villain of the Batman universe, Ledger is the undisputed champion in terms of bringing the caped crusader's scarred and twisted arch enemy to life, ultimately and unforgettably so, embracing every tainted aspect of the clown prince's fatal grudge against goodness and pushing badness further to the surface. An utterly superb masterpiece, this is not only Nolan's best film, it's the greatest of the entire superhero/comic book genre.

A good film, but not without its issues.

The acting is solid, especially from Heath Ledger who steals the scenes whenever he is on que.
Christian Bale performance is also very good and has somewhat gone under notice due to Heaths exciting performances.

Great action scenes in the film ,coupled with a great use of the camera work from now famous Wally Pfister.
Plus scenes that would simply take your breath-away such as the Tokyo showdown, the underground car/bat-tank battle and the beautifully worked head-on carnage involving Batman and the Joker.

I liked the story, though I question its lengh.
I thought the good guy turned bad was a nice sub-plot.

So why do I have issues with it?
Well throughout all the style and perfections mastered by Nolan and crew I cant help but feel the old cliche 'all style and no substance',and although I dont neccaserely agree with this bold statement I do feel there is some justification in this cliche with regards to The Dakr Knight.
Although the acting was solid,I felt the emotion was lacking.

The appearance of Two Face was continually bugging me,only because Nolan's Dark Knight was more grounded on reality than that of the much better Batman Begins, which combined both perfectly.

Gotham City.Gotham City in Batman Begins was gritty,Dark and generaly had a menace in its shadow other than that of The Batman.
Gotham City in the Dark Knight was just your usual City..
It didnt feel it had its own Comic character.

Good film, but for a batman fanboy like me it has its issues.
For the neautral it rightfully regarded as a masterpiece, for a fanboy, well we are picky

In my opinion one of the best films ever made, Christopher Nolan is a exceptional film maker with a keen attention to detail. Excellent performances are given from all of the cast ( Heath Ledger in particular ) and they all play their roles perfectly. Nolan portrays the story of Batman better than any of the previous live action directors that have attempted to create the dark and gritty tone that surrounds Gotham City. 10/10
