Robocop - 8/10
Classic 80s action movie with overly stylized violence. The sequels were awful however thanks to the loss of the original director's satire.

The Evil Dead - 8/10
A well deserved cult classic and Raimi's humour sits along well with the splatter and gore.

Inland Empire - 9/10
David Lynch at his most obscure, terrifying, funny and completely bonkers. God knows what's going on but I'm blown away by it all.

My Dinner with Andre - 8/10
A highly philosophical, intellectual and imaginative adventure. And its all set within one conversation at the dinner table. A highly original art-house classic that is never boring despite the concept.

Martial arts epic from premiere Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou. Asian superstars Jet Li, Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung and Donnie Yen act out a Rashomon-style story set in the 3rd century BC.

Aladdin - 8/10
One of Disney's finest animated classics, great songs, beautiful animation, likeable characters and a wonderful vocal turn by Robin Williams as the Genie. Family entertainment at its best.

Hero - 8/10
The design and visuals in the film are outstanding whilst the cast perform their emotional roles as expertly as the combat sequences.

Cat People (1942) - 7/10
A little po-faced and old fashioned at times but this is quite an ingenious film noir horror movie that masterfully creates tension.

Black Dynamite 8/10 - Delightful and bares a number of repeat viewings

Robocop - 8/10 - Very sucessful satire blended with excellent action, and sharp dialouge.

Evil Dead 9/10 - Horror and comedy superbly merged, with some wonderful effects and shocks.

Inland Empire 9/10 - Enough said on this from me in the past, but another true original from the master of surreal.

Kramer VS. Kramer 7.5/10 - Engaging enough hollywood fare.

Dawn of the Dead 4/10 - A complete shambles.

Diner 6/10 - Need to revisit this, i felt it was a bit smug.

Blood Simple 9/10 - one of the Coen's best ever films.

A Taste of Honey 5/10 - Just thought it resorted to too many streriotypes and felt more like a soap than a drama. Acting wasn't anything special either.

Actually watched some of Baraka in my film studies class on monday and it looked really impressive will make an effort to check the whole film out

Not really. It would be easier if you just rated the films you have seen from the list, if you rate a film you have already voted for I don't count it again but if you haven't rated it then your vote will be counted.

Peeping Tom - 7/10
Slightly tame in today's standards but I'm sure this must have been a pretty effective thriller back in the day with a compelling villian.

Now, Voyager - 7/10
Bette Davis makes this film worthwhile but the story is a little silly at times and a bit all over the place. Still it's always fun to watch one of the great dames of the cinema clearly cherishing the melodrama of the performance.

So you don't adjust them if the ratings differ?
Some of my ratings have gone up or down over time, mostly readjustments to try and keep films I saw (and rated) a long time ago in line with recent viewings (rather than repeat views, which I rarely have time for). Doesn't matter a bean of course, but I did wonder when I (re-?)posted "have you voted for" films, whether you'd overwrite any old ratings with new ones.

No I don't have note of what your original rating is so I will only adjust your rating if you tell me what the changes are.

Your Sister's Sister 8/10 - Sharp script, both painful and funny almost in one, believeable dialouge well played by a solid cast.

Lost Highway 8/10 - Divides me a little in terms of where it sits in the Lynch cannon, sometimes I think its one of his best, others just a very good film which loses its way towards the end. I love the gothic feel to it, the use shadows and brooding performances, music again at the heart of some key scenes.

Lost Highway - 9/10
Brilliant and under-appreciated Lynchian madness. The whole first section is near perfect with its downward spiral of creepiness but the film is let down slightly by Balthazar Getty being a bit of a wet blanket. The rest of the cast are pretty excellent however including a fantastic femme fatale role for Patricia Arquette.

Porco Rosso - 8/10
More adult than most of Miyazaki's work this is a melancholy tale of a man cursed by a spell that has turned him into a pig. Lovely stuff as always.

All About My Mother - 9/10
One of Pedro Almodovar's best, a lovingly complex and colourful melodrama.
