Quite possibly Eastwood's masterpiece, leisurely paced meditation on violence with terrific performances from its expert cast.

Carlito's Way - 8/10
De Palma and Pacino made an explosive reunion with this highly enjoyable crime drama. Sean Penn is terrific in here.

The Social Network - 8/10
Expertly performed and scripted and Fincher handles the material with respect. It's a telling insight into the mindsets of the young and rich.

A nice, delicate little melodrama about a lost romance. Visually it's nothing spectacular but it moves along at an appropriate pace for such a melodrama and the payoff is lovely.

#9 on Rinc's list...

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
This film is a '90s version of the classic Robin Hood story, with Kevin Costner starring as the good-guy thief.

#10 on Rinc's list...

Team America: World Police (2004)
A comedy for those who like their humour wild, frank and fearless. South Park's creators return with a typically outrageous send-up of the 'War On Terror', using a cast of puppets.

#19 on Rinc's list...

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Having shunned the spotlight for years, billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) prepares to suit up once more to take on a new threat, muscular terrorist Bane (Tom Hardy).

#4 on Gram123's list...

Snowtown (2011)
Based on murders committed in South Australia in the 1990s, this is the story of how serial killer John Bunting befriended a family, first as a father figure, then as self-styled moral vigilante.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - 5/10
Costner is woefully miscast and the film is a bunch of Hollywood cheesy nonsense, but Alan Rickman chews the scenery in delightfully top form as the Sheriff.

Team America: World Police - 7/10
Offensive and funny in equal measures, gags are hit and miss but it's a daft enough and fun movie to watch with a few beers.

The Dark Knight Rises - 10/10
Nolan completes the trilogy on excellent form, Bale and Hathaway are superb. Its a bleak film but one of the finest comic book films ever.

#5 on Gram123's list...

The Fighter (2010)
David O Russell directs the based-on-a-true-story tale of a talented boxer (Mark Wahlberg) struggling to emerge from the clingy influence of his overbearing family and realise his true potential.

#8 on Gram123's list...

Warrior (2011)
The son (Tom Hardy) of a former boxer (Nick Nolte) trains for a mixed martial arts tournament where he ends up competing against his brother (Joel Edgerton), who must win for financial reasons.

Batman vs. Bane! Both great films that look at violent sports and how they affect the personal lives of the people that take part. Performances in both films are excellent but the films themselves fall slightly into predictability (especially Warrior)

Skyfall - 10/10
Briliiant entry into a series I've never been to keen on. Craig and Dench are brilliant together and Javier' Bardem gets one of the best villians ever.

Spin-off list coming up so need some scores for the following films....

All About My Mother (1999)
Pedro Almodovar's richly textured tale of fate and coincidence, passion and regret. Award winning, and rightly so .

Cat People (1942)
The classiest of B movie horrors, featuring Simone Simon as a young newlywed afraid that arousal will transform her into a panther.

My Dinner with Andre (1981)
Endless food for thought in this drama about two friends discussing everything under the sun over dinner. With Andre Gregory, Wallace Shawn and directed by Louis Malle.

Now, Voyager (1942)
The ultimate melodramatic, atmospheric (and very smoky) glum to glamour chick flick. The many highlights include a magnificent swelling score from Max Steiner and a scintillating performance by Bette Davis.

Peeping Tom (1960)
Seminal study of the serial killer, which predates even Psycho, from director Michael Powell. With its camera-wielding, 'scoptophiliac' killer it's both frightening and fascinating.

I'm awaiting your 2/10 review for Skyfall, just to prove the fact that you're so contrarian that you hate blockbusters even rawlinson AND ELAB like. You're the Armond White of this forum, a hater of film and a disgrace on everyone.

Shane (1953)
A gunfighter tries to start a new life only to become involved in a brutal battle with local cattle barons in this classic western starring Alan Ladd.

The Sweet Hereafter (1997)
Writer-director Egoyan received two Oscar nominations for his direction and adaptation of a chilling Russell Banks novel.

Variete (1925)
German filmmaker E.A. Dupont's silent masterpiece Variety, is the story of a carnival concessionaire (Emil Jannings), his alluring wife (Lya de Putti), and the handsome acrobat (Warwick Ward) who comes between them.

Young Frankenstein (1974)
Mel Brooks and Gene Hackman collaboration that affectionately - and amusingly - parodies the 1930s Universal horrors.

Shane - 8/10
Hey why no love for this? I thought it was a solid old school good v bad western.

The Sweet Hereafter - 8/10
A beautiful, sad movie with a great performance from Ian Holm.

Young Frankenstein - 8/10
Hit and miss as always but this is probably Brooks finest film and Wilder is fantastic.

Its an interesting U-turn for the series and Fassbender and McAvoy are perfectly cast. As with the other films however, too many characters doesn't do the film any favours as many are sidelined. Still plenty of cool superhero moments.

Also...

The Girl Who Played with Fire - 5/10
A disappointing sequel, its plodding and doesn't benefit from having the two main protagonists away from each other throughout the whole film. Despite all the violence its actually pretty dull. Rapace is still excellent though and the relationship with her girlfriend is an interesting subplot.
