Has Guy Richie finally got a little sick of using Jason statham in his films, or is there already too many cockneys swinging the accent round to squeeze him in?

Great cast, but it looks like once again Ritchie is just throwing a mishmash of characters together and relying on his quick fire dialog and editing to carry the film.

I like Roman Abramovich's cameo, didn't know he had a self-deprecating sense of humour... No, honestly, I find it strangely hard to get excited about this. It just looks like Mr. Ciccione's usual schtick, which got me tired by the second half of Snatch. My only hope is that the reason for Tom Wilkinson's appearance was a good script and not just the paycheck. But then again, didn't Mr. W star in that recent Woody Allen smash?

It's good to see Gerard Butler doing something cool again. After seeing trailers for P.S. I Love You and Nim's Island, I was starting to worry 300 was just a once off.

Looks like the usual Ritchie mess, bit of violence, bit of cockney patter, myriad plot line weaving together to one bloody finale... but it's such a quality cast can it really be shit? Toby Kebbell is awesome, as is Mark Strong (though both not awesome enough to be named in the trailer?) and Peep Show's finest druggie scumbag pops up too. Newton is pants. Token pants.

anything with Toby Kebbel is ok in my books.... and Jeremy Piven.. I'm gonna give this one a chance. It can't be as bad as Revolver can it? Surely not? It's just not possible

This is looking like everything Smokin' Aces wishes it was.

Plus, hopefully the lack of cockney will have all the Ritchie naysayers thinking of more inventive insults than the usual "mockney caaaaant" bollocks they usually spout.

I gotta say, I'm totally content with the lack of Jason Statham.

So, Richie made Lock Stock, then remade it with Snatch, then tried to do something else, failed miserably, so now he's remaking Lock Stock again.

What a talented geezer!

good. Definitely intrigued and while Guy Ritchie may be a bit of a one-trick-pony ( yet to be proved otherwise ), he does it well. Anyone know he sings the song in the trailer ?

The song that plays over the second half, y'mean? It is The Subways, Rock & Roll Queen, from the album Young for Eternity. Cracking album.

S'later.

But he performs it well! Looks fun... it better be after Revolver (quite possibly the worst film ever made...and I mean ever!)

I agree with Bronco,it just looks fun,Ritchies films were never subtle or well directed or acted(theres been the odd great performance)in the first place. Also Toby Kebbell is becoming an actor to watch, i was pretty impressed with him in Dead Mans Shoes and Control,he might end up stealing the movie away from the more established star?
Ritchie is still two for two for me as i steared clear of Swept Away and Revolver.I thought his Nike Footbal Next Level trailer was pretty good too.
Wasn't this talked about being a proposed trilogy?

Trailers are shite and then fail to give a reason. This is a home grown Brit thriller directed by someone who has an original track record in this genre as well as some homegrown heavy weight stars. AND WHAT DO YOU ALL SAY? Shite. I used to log on to Empire for considered film discourse. Now I avoid the comments section in the same way I do on the Daily Mail website. Too many posts by pubescent morons.

The trailer and film look very promising. Although its a Shame Jay Statham couldn't be in it.

I sometimes wonder why some people bother logging on here. You are supposed to be movie fans. Ritchie has a lot of talent and determination. Scorsesse has made a few clunkers. I suppose cos he is homegrown British talent we have to knock him down as much as possible.

I took another look at Revolver the other day. Very interesting and original and the Boy Statham shows his acting chops. Some nice ideas and lets face it (although I am guessing most of you didn't see it) there are parts of Revolver that are beautifully shot. The colouring and set designs are gorgeous. I am looking forward to this. I am guessing most of the posters here will go and see it anyway. The question you have to ask is: Why?

i can't wait for this I think Guy Ritchie's films are good apart from swept away and Revolver. I don't get why we can have hundreds of Mafia films, but a couple of British gangster films and everybody's sick of them. I really do hope this is a return to form

Put a sock-in-it all you no talent haters! You just come across as a bunch of jealous twats with a completely ridiculous sense of entitlement. Just 'cos your Mummy listened to you doesn't mean you've got anything to say, alright?

It's amusing that Cletus Van Damme and Cameron1975Williams seem to have a problem with people criticising a filmmaker on a film site (what an odd notion), yet they have no problem flinging personal insults at complete strangers.

My Name is Legion:

1. They are not 'personal insults' as I know nothing about them. My phrase 'pubescent morons' can hardly be taken on a personal level. Unless you consider yourself a pubescent moron.

2. They are not criticzing either a film maker or his films. Not if your definition of the word 'criticism' includes some level of considered thought.

Ritchie (like all film makers) has his faults, but he also has genuine moments of greatness and originality. He is no Ratner.

The critism of him has more to do with the fact that he is British and Mr Madonna, rather than any considered crtiqiue of his work. I personally want to see him making films in 25 years. Look at the trailer again. There are some terrific shots. If the same film was directed by Quentin Tarrantino, the same fan wankers would be creaming their pants.

See Porrohman and Hatebox for more.

The Daily Mail wesbsite is shit for the same reason. Empire forums are descending into the filmic equivalents of 'lock em and throw away the key' nonsense that is brain numbingly boring.

Why bother posting if your only words are SHIT. Why not fuck off and play in the sand box
