I have just read Ice Station and Area 7 by Matthew Reilly back to back and found them to be brilliant.
Action packed, full of suspense and still with some sort of base in reality.

Wondering if anyone else has heard of him or read his books?

I've read most - mindless fodder for when you don't want to think although I think they've gotten gradually worse. He also takes himself tremendously seriously which makes his little Q&As at the end of the books absolutely hilarious - I highly recommend them. He doesn't seem to realise how 2D his characters are and repeatedly references deep emotional moments that don't exist - it's fabulous stuff!

Yeah. That Q&A at the end of Area 7 was funny.

I've read all of them and thoroughly enjoy the wild ride he takes you on.  Perfect adventure escapism, and sure some of his scenarios are slightly beyond realistic but it just fits into his characters and scenarios.  Reac Scarecrow if you like the Shane Scofield character but try his other series as well.  All worth every penny.

If you like Matthew Reilly read James Rollins, he's very similar and just as enjoyable if not more.

Roll on the new books, can't wait!!
