I'm a fan of the original, but I'm also a fan of having fun, so I don't really get all the hate around this. Sure the movie may blow, but the trailers and all their bad CGI seem to suggest this will at least go down well with a large popcorn and coke. About the only thing I dislike is RoboCop's new design, the all black is really boring, and the hint at the classic colours in the trailer looks so much better.

Usually people would wait and see a film BEFORE they dump all over it.

You'd think so, wouldn't you?

Since when!

I don't what you're crowing about. You've been down on this film since it was announced.

Well... yes? That's what I meant, people never "wait and see". Not sure what I am crowing about either

Has anyone seen a review yet? They can't be far away, seeing as it opens next week...

I wouldn't expect a cult classic or a blood bath. At the moment the story appears to be rather weak because I'm getting the impression it's OCP behind the car bombing.

Early word suggesting that it might be alright.
Reminds me of the time I was looking forward to the first Silent Hill movie for some reason.
Same kind of giddy geeky anticipation and ready to overlook a lot of flaws should it have them I guess.

Here's a solid review for anyone who's interested:

Would be a nice change if a remake or re-imagining was more in the direction of a positive outcome.

Try geek culture.

Also, co-writer of the original Robocop, Michael Miner has replied to it.

How can you really say that the remake sucked itís just came out. One bad review and you say it sucks itís had some good reviews. The only opinion that matters is yours once you have seen the film. You donít have to be a sheep and follow Empire just because they said it sucks watch it and make up your own mind. But if you donít watch and just hate on the film you are only looking like a troll. The hate that this film has got is just over the top and yes I do like the original a lot.

Total Film gave it 4/5 and SFX gave it 4.5/5. Only negative review have read is Empire's.

Counting the minutes until the over zealous mods lock this thread too.

Snippets of various reviews

Generally seems ok. Empires review is actually the worst I've seen. Still looking forward to giving it a go tomorrow night
