I just typed out "I quite like the helmet.". Then couldn't stop laughing at how that read.

But anyways, I think the helmet looks good.

I kinda like the front end of the helmet (You're right, there is no way to type this shit out without it turning it to Carry On Empire!) but I hate the back end as it looks kinda bigger than the front, and it sticks out more. Also on the rear shots the back end looks kinda flat. The more I look at it the more I hate it. It isn't robotic enough, it doesnt look like they've taken what's left of a fucked up, left for dead man and built it into a robot. That looks like a man in a suit of armour. It is reminding me more and more of Iron Man.

However..... Possible Spoilers...

There was talk that OCP keep elements of humanity on show during the early stages to show they're keeping Murphy alive, rather than using his remains. Thats why his wife is on show too, they have her support, its still Murphy, we can save you etc etc. It's a ploy used by OCP to have more cops signed up to the program. Later in the movie they open Robo up to show his wife and the reveal the full extent of the make over, with essentially just a head, spinal column and brain being left. The hand is essentially a prop. I guess this then leads into the themes from the original that no matter how much they strip away of his body his mind and memories remain somewhat intact etc. So, I can see why they may be leaving the hand free of armour and how it might make sense, but it looks fucking odd and the suit still doesnt look robotic. However, that may change in official photos and on screen. I think the studio should do a little damage control and get some decent promo pics out there.

New full body pics online - http://www.aintitcool.com/node/58981

Looks cack, just like a man in a suit as oppposed to an integrated man & machine. One of the best things about the original design imo was when Murphy took of the helmet & you could see the slight gap between his face & the back of his robot head. This looks like he's got a balaclava on.

OCP nipples?

I repeat. I will not stand for naked hand apologists!! The human hand , if this is the case is the achilles heal to this movie!!! its f`ing dumb and I hope they realize this and CGI it right now!!!. I can live with the shit rubber suit and fetish black! but the human hand both goes against the point of Robocop and its looks shit.

I agree, the hand looks odd and is an obvious weak point in all that armour. Obviously there will be new take on the classic "Well give the man a hand!" scene.
On another note, it's not even OCP anymore, they changed it to 'Omnicorp'. They're using the same circular logo, they just removed the 'P' so that it reads 'OC'

I'm still reserving judgement until I see it with all the sound effects and possible CG enhancements. If I've learnt anything form set photos, it's that you really cannot judge a film's aesthetic from set photos. There's so much added even in things as seemingly trivial as camera angles.

Despite the hate, I can still see people lapping it up when they see the final mix on cinema screen. And no doubt buying up all the Hot Toy collectable figurines, like hungry nerds

Nope. Just like we didn't need a remake of Total Recall but good 'ol Hollywood went and did it anyway. But hey, it's not all bad news. We still have the Highlander remake with Ryan Reynolds to look forward too.

So what do you think will be the reason why Robocop will have a human hand in the film?

I mentioned it further up, and I guess this could be spoilers, but it's not confiemde so who knows.... but...

There was talk that within the script it's Murphy's wife that agrees to the Robo trasnformation as it's sold to her and the public by OCP (or whatever they're called in this) that there is more of Murphy actually alive in the suit than there really is. So the human hand is kept there to sell the humanity of Robo - easier than having him walk about with his wang out, I guess. However, later in the script there was supposedly a reveal to Murphy's wife that OCP actually duped her and most of Murphy is gone, and the suit is opened and there was virtually nothing left, a brain, a face, a spinal column and such. This would then later lead to the idea that no matter how much of Murphy's body was removed and destroyed, his thoughts, emotions and memories live on. It'll likely lead to Murphy fighting his programming, fighing against the will of the machine with his human spirit, and we'll probably have a dramatic moment where his mind wins out over the Robo body and he clenches his human fist in triumph as the overpowering score rises in the background........I'll probably puke my own spinal column out in sickening disgust.

As a diehard fan of the original, I have avoided any news or pics of this over the last few months. Finally caved and looked at the 'New Robocop suit etc'.

I don't wanna be that fanboy who espouses bile on something not yet released... But... Trying.. Hard... Fuck it, HAHAHAHA that looks shite!

From AICN

quote:

It's been nothing but disaster for Jose Padilha's remake of ROBOCOP. From the scathing review of the screenplay (I've since heard it was of an early draft, so who knows what changes may have been made to get to what's in production right now) to the shots of a less than impressive RoboCop suit to rumors of heavy studio interference with the director's vision for the film, it's been one problem after another for this retelling, and it looks like it's only going from bad to worse.

Sony and MGM have yanked ROBOCOP from its previous August 9, 2013 release date, pushing the film all the way back to February 7, 2014. Of course, this is going to get spun as allowing more time for post-productions, visual effects rendering, etc., but don't let that fool you. I've heard from sources that ROBOCOP has some major problems that are going to be virtually impossible to correct, because they're built into the story they're trying to tell. I'd expect this extra time to be used for some pretty hefty reshoots to be added onto the schedule, as the studio tries to piece together some semblance of a film, much like Paramount did with WORLD WAR Z, but it may be too late to really course correct the film without trashing what they've already got in the can and starting all over. And you can bet that's not going to happen, because the last thing these two studios are going to do is close up shop and chalk up their poor decisions to a loss. You'd think the studios would have learned right now when they're investing so much money into some of these bigger budget films to make sure they have a good movie on their hands first before they rush it into production. Staking your claim on a release date doesn't matter much, when the film being released is garbage. Then again, the box office numbers prove people will see the garbage anyway, so, unless there's a shift at the cash register, there's no incentive for that model to be changed.

As a result of the ROBOCOP shift, Neill Blomkamp's ELYSIUM is also getting moved around the calendar. While we were all set to see Blomkamp's newest film since DISTRICT 9 on March 1, we have no choice but to wait a little bit longer now, with Sony/Tri-Star pushing ELYSIUM back to that August 9 release date vacated by the ROBOCOP debacle.

Doesn't it feel like no one's winning in this equation?

Adds weight to the rumours that they've been re-writing the (original badly reviewed) script as they've been shooting it.

'Dredd' I haven't seen but it may well have been a one off, this will fare no better than the 'Total Recall' fiasco.

A few rumours doing the rounds concerning these concept pics.
One rumour is that this is the suit we'll see at the beginning.Another rumour is that this suit is what we'll see towards the end.

Here is a look at OCP's Terminator?

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/samartininews/news/?a=72928

I wouldn't mind if Robocop is one of these guys or modified to support organic material. I did speculate some time ago this new Robocop could be like a fleshed Terminator T800. It looked human but underneth is pretty much machine. After being combat and suffering external damage, the machine parts start to show.

Well I would rather Robocop looked like this OCP (war machine) robot than the current disastrous Black dildo affair we are apparently going to get instead! oh with a human hand too!!. This will suck donkeys balls. They should dump the movie now and save the props for Ironman 4

Yeah ive got to say im pretty cynical about these pictures now. I always assumed it would be hard to avoid an Iron Man vibe to this film, but that picture screams all shades of IM2..... not least I think now after having the promos for ED209 and was there a jet(?) I think the ending will be some CGI jizzfest again with Robo vs hundreds of drones....

..I dont have any issues with the suit really. Its different than the old one bringing atleast some originality to it.... and set pictures usually look shit anyway, take a look at the batman set pics. Ill wait for an offiicial.

Just hope they keep the gritty violence of the original. It has to be a 15 at least. Been watching The Killing recently and have been impressed with Kinnaman so hoping he can nail Murphy.

Anyone know if Clarence Boddiker is in it?
