Its ok,certainly brings the viewer into the kind of state Detroit is in and the need for machine enhanced protection.
Its also interesting to see machines developed before Robocop appears,which is logical if you think about it.

I also think it fits in well with the initial Robocop films.It has that bold,slightly political saterical chessy-ness which the original infilm commercials had.Personally speaking this viral video would not look out of place in the original Robocop.

Not saying the reboot is needed but this is a start that indicates the production team has a great fondness for the original films atmosphere and styling.

I hear there will be no helmet/visor, you will see his face!!. IF thats true then its Instant f*cking FAIL!!. Leave it alone and go make Ironman 8, wankers. Its a shame because I think Joel Kinnaman would of been a great Murphy. The whole idea of Robocop is his initial dehumanization (you need the mask), then later he remembers and uncovers his face! its once the great scenes in the original and kind of the point of Robocop. Ah well, just as well the original its still a great watch today as the first time I watched it :)

The script for this piece of sh!t has been leaked. Drew McWeeny from HitFix has taken to twitter & absolutely slated it. One memorable quote 'If this movie was a person I'd stab it in the face'.






***SPOILERS***


There are apparently 4 versions of Robocop in the script, he's also a transformer btw!
At one point Robocop visits & destroys a load of Al Quaida training camps…'USA USA USA'
The script references the original in a nod & wink way to the original ala Total Recall (2012)
'Satire' is low on the list of priorites

I dunno - it depends how it is presented on film. Drew was the guy who revealled the first ending of Terminator Salvation where John Connor would die and Marcus would take on his "skin" to continue to lead the Resistance. It was brave, radical and threw the franchise into a new direction.

But Drew hated it, and the fanboys all hated it and the ending was changed...and then the fanboys all complained because the movie was about nothing.

The Robocop franchise has hardly been great. In fact outside of the first movie everything else has been rubbish. So who knows - this could be fun, it could be rubbish. What I refuse to do is base my criticism on a script - these things are always changing - including on set.

Sure - and I would have no problem if Drew had written it as an article like he used to do on AICN. But he chose twitter to do it when in the past he has bashed others for similar behaviour.

If that's at all true it looks like they might have taken some inspiration from the Robocop comic book series that was released shortly after the film, they had him in a new suit sent to fight wars in foreign lands.

This is fake. You can see pretty much what he will look like or a good idea from the shoulder section shown on the offical viral website for Omnicorp. Looks a bit Deus Ex3 to me, which is no bad thing, but its the whole no visor thats getting to me!.

Sounds a great cast to me. This is Hall's Cat Woman moment in many ways.

Also the rumour I heard is that Aronfsky is directing if that is true I am unboard. Can't see it matching the 80s version but should still be good with him behind it.

 And yet I still don't think you can read much into these set-pics.
Yep we know the look but once the gloss and cgi has been added then I'm presuming it'll look a whole lot different.

Just depends where this new film is heading.Is it heading towards the Original adult take?, or is it heading towards a more fantastical-blockbuster take?.
