the main problem with sm3 was the script, but with someone else on scriptwriting duties we shouldn't have the same problem right?
Good on Raimi for wanting to carry on after the cold reception SM3 recieved, I feel many were just a little too harsh on it just because the first 2 were so good - i'd be glad for him to make a comeback to rectify his mistakes and win back the fans.

Carnage, Scorpion, Shocker or Lizard? Please god, leave... - 8/6/2008 1:08:41 PM

Right.
I am actually all for this if they get it right. I think they should start focusing on the comic story arcs instead of trying to combine everything.
Spider-Man 3 had too much in it to work, they were trying to shove everything in and it basically exploded in everyone's faces.
I also think that, they should alter Peters personality a bit, more to the comic Peter Parker. I don't think I'll ever agree with Kirsten Dunst, but there's nothing much I can do about that.
I'd like to see Carnage in this movie, Scorpion, Shocker or the Lizard. Please god, leave the Vulture be.
C'mon, they've hinted at Curt Connors too many times in the previous three films, so I think the Lizard would be quite a good direction to go. Of course, as long as they keep to the comic book story arc I don't see the particular problem.

Now, If only Marvel could set Sony and Fox straight and have Tobey Miguire, Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart do a cameo or two in the other Marvel movies. Logan and Parker declining Stark and Fury's offer to join their new 'team' would be cool.

I hope this next installment will be no only worth watchiing but worth the money and time it takes to make. When a studio gets a grip on a franchise it can bleed them dry until it destroys the beloved characters. However if it done properly it could Put Spidy Right up at the top where he belongs.

Does that have you excited or would you rather leave it at three?

They shoulda left it at two. This idea makes me feel slightly nauseous.

Spiderman three, was cheesy as hell and was so pro America it got sickening. If he does make a Spiderman 4 he better give it an overhaul because the third instalment completely wrecked Spiderman 1's credibility to me. Maybe he should make it a bit darker? and a bit more serious> hell maybe a bit more realistic. stop the cheesy crap

well Raimi's a smart man and so's Maguire, so hopefully they learned the lessons from 3 and 4 should be pretty great.

if they're doing 4 and 5 bck to back also, are they doing a double-film-story also? that could be good.

Why, exactly? Spiderman is a great character, and as we have seen with 1 and 2, can help create some great films. How do you know number 4 won't be any good?

Sam let a lot of people down, but he made a couple of good films. He deserves another stab at it. I say this through clenched teeth for what he did with the third film, almost unforgiveable. Killing Harry, what a prick. But he's got a long way to go before he makes me develop a Lucas sized hatred of him so why not see what he can do to bring Spidey back with a bang. If he's really lost it, reboot Incredible Hulk stylee.

Im a big fan of the spidey series but i think its time for a new director and a new spidey. And definetly a new mary jane, i always thought kirsten dunst was terrible. It would also be good if they didnt arse about with the story and maybe make peter parker actually happy in the next movie instead of crying so much.

After seeing No 3 a.k.a. `Spiderman The Musical` at this moment in time I really could not care less.

I watched it again last night and it was even worse on second viewing.....what a mess. Way too many gripes to mention, but my top five gripes have to be....
  • The script (in general) - utter SHITE. The best delivery in the world couldn't have saved some of the dreadful dialogue...most evident in the final scenes with the news reporter and kids (who the hell says "wicked cool"??)
  • The butler...firstly in terms of the acting (he looks as though he's about to keel over after every line), and secondly in terms of the forehead-smacking reveal to Harry about his knowledge of Norman's death. Doh!
  • The all-singing, all-dancing shitstorm that occurs in the middle of the movie. Harry and MJ doing the twist? Peter leaping about a jazz bar and playing piano? Puhleeeease. I had to fast-forward through it, it was too painful to watch.
  • Peter forgives Flint Marko, despite him being responsible for his uncle's death, and despite him clearly killing (or at the least maiming) a few innocent policemen and New Yorkers during the course of the movie. All because "my daughter was sick" ...boo frickety hoo.
  • The British news reporter in the final scenes. I don't think I need to say anymore about her.
I'm a huge Spidey fan, and I don't really mind the first two movies (IMO Dunst and Maguire were always the wrong choices for their respective roles), but a fourth outing has to be something fresh. I think adding Mysterio in as a villain would be a great move. Add in more Bryce Dallas-Howard and JK Simmons and you can't go wrong!

The third movie suffered from being overcrowded with sub-plots and backstories but there were still some great moments such as The New Goblin/Spiderman fight and the introduction of Sandman. It's only big flaw is Rami's refusal not to give every hero and villian a story arc instead of just letting them show up and kick arse (Although what a colossul flaw this turned out to be).
I say let him do the fourth one as long as he only has two villians MAX, ONE main plot arc and two sub-plots at THE VERY MOST. As for villians The Lizard is an obvious choice. I'd suggest Carnage except for Rami's distain for Venom.

if anything spidey 4 and 5 should have been about venom as he is everything that spidey is but bad...but seeing as they "killed" him off that rules that idea out, it also rules out anythin about carnage the only villan that spidey and venom worked together to defeat so the only good villain left is lizard and he should have been done for spidey 2, so all in all they should just give up!

I'm still pissed with Raimi for ruining the first movie and changing The Green Goblin/Gwen Stacy arc - ya know Spidey's most important story EVER! Who gives a $hit about Venom? He's a lame character anyway. And Harry did die in the comics. Ya have to take the movies as movies and seperate from the comics. I think all of the movies have been brilliant. Peter is a sad character, though he's meant to hide it more, I think Tobey is great in the role. Kirsten is great as MJ too. Hopefully 4 will be just as great as the first 3 movies. Okay so 3 wasn't great, but it was okay - its the fans faults for nagging to have Venom in it. He should have been excluded, he's just not that interesting past the initial arc. I'd have hated to see him in more than one movie, they need to concentrate on Pete as a character as they have been, Spidey is always second! Raimi is a brilliant director - I can't wait for the fourth movie - bring on the love triangle!
