Obviously a cash in, probably have a predictable plot. Chance of this actually being above 2 stars is very very low. I can also see it trying to be a teen horror, lots of cheesy jump out moments.
The only possible way there could be a sequel to donnie darko would be if a tangent universe was set up again, but then its the same story again, just with different characters. I am very very unhappy.
On the plus side though, The Dark Knight is out soon!!!!

 So, it's gonna be Darko meets Showgirls?! It's hard to imagine how they're going to make this abomination even less appealing. What's next, I wonder? A cameo for Rose West and Gary Glitter to sing the soundtrack? This is going to be a bomb of apocalyptic proportions. So hard will it suck that not even light will be able to escape it - an event horizon of shite if you will.

And to stop it collapsing and turning into a black-hole with which it could destroy all existence (when the film gets released) is to go back in time and stop Fisher, Atkins, or the film studio thinking it would be a good idea to cash in on a masterpiece of originality. Just got to figure out who the living reciever is... and what the artifact is, then were set! The animated dead and living should all be chosen automatically.
and if we don't succeed a huge black hole should start to develop above Fisher at Atkins, and eventually destroy everything, yay!
OR we could just start a riot.
