Let's be honest... this movie is going to bomb. Ratner has a fan base of less than zero; Mister Murphy's star has sunk pretty low with all the fat suits over the past decade, and unless they reinvent the central concept, it's not what people are going to see these days.

But then they did go back to Rambo, which I thought was impossible, so you never know. Go Brett!

Oh no, not another one! Would somebody please kick Hollywood in the groin a couple of times for churning out these 80s action movie reboots. It is worrying to see such lack of new ideas.

I just had a look at Judge Reinhold = Det. Sgt. Billy' Rosewood ....he's changed a lot! But I do hope they keep him on, he was great.
And what about Bronson Pinchot = Serge, surely they have to bring him back. He was hilarious!

I'll admit I have a special place in my heart for the franchises I grew up with. At the tender teen years I was watching Indiana Jones on TV and the Last Crusade at the cinema; Die Hard was a perennial favourite on the VCR; Rocky was seldom not watched; but with the latest selection of these franchises hitting the cinema I think they're struggling to live up to the past and the myth and aura that surrounds the franchises as time passes. With so much fond feeling for the films of the 80's/90's franchises, the "next films" in the series have lots to live up to and - in recent years - failed to live up to expectations. With Eddie Murphy's current track record in cinema - excepting Shrek - is this a wise move for a franchise that ended with BHC3?

Beverley Hills Cop worked because Murphy was fresh and funny at the time and quite charming. Now he is a big, arrogant twat who believes his own hype and is surrouned by yes men. Its not possible to make a decent BHC movie because Murphy just isn't the same person. Oh and BHC 3 was rubbish....

How many different roles will Murphy be playing in this one then?

File this one under 'mediocre at best' along with Rocky Balboa, Rambo and Indy 4

dubious source material aside, surely the combination of ratner and murphy is illegal under some kind of human rights law??

The only way this will be any good is if Judge Reinhold brings his Hung Jury.

After the poor third outing I can't see this one being much cop.

So what other action franchises from the 80's featured a black star Helen?
The racism comment seems somewhat misjudged and doesn't really add up when you think about it. Anyway, this is a horrible idea and Brett Ratner should be shot.

None the beverly Hills films were any good. None off them. How Beverly Hills Cop made more money than Ghostbusters in 1984 I'll never understand! The only good thing about them was the theme tune from Harold Faltermayer. People will watch this but only for nostalgia and it won't turn Eddie Murpheys career around.

A movie nobody wants, by a director nobody likes, featuring an actor few people enjoy watching anymore.Sounds like a great idea.

Klaus, it was a joke. I was trying to crowbar in a reference to my favourite scene in the original.

Some people will just pick at anything they can.

I've never massively been into Beverly Hills Cop, but I reckon another one would be welcome. I don't regard it as highly as I did Die Hard or Indy so my expectations won't get that high.

Fairy nuff, the reference flew right over. Im racking my brain for another 80's action star that was black or even a single film along the same lines, it's a toughie.

...clearly there isn't a God. Doesn't Eddie realise no one likes him in movies anymore? Certainly movies where he isn't a donkey.

Cant wait for this I just hope they make it an 18!! An 80s franchise I would like to see is a SHORT CIRCUIT 3. Heres the pitch.... Jonny 5 is in a plane flying over Iraq, The plane is shot down & poor jonny jumps from the plane just in time before it blows. He lands in Iraq, hooks up with a load of marines & goes all commando. Lots of killing & big explosions.

BHC3 was a abortion of a film. The only way they can improve is to have it in the same tone as the first film. That means it has to be a 15 at least, a reasonable plot and Eddie Murphy doing some proper mother fucking unnecessary swearing again. But that's not going to happen as Murphy seemed to have lost his testicles long ago. Mother fuckering shame.
