One thing he's never struck me as is arrogant. He always comes across as shy and humble.

Mmmm- but, IMO, normal people might talk about how others talk about them, or tell stories. Humble people who know how to use words don't see themselves at the centre of myths. Very telling word IMO.

Yeah, but he's not normal. He's been the centre of various forms of media attention for 50 years, and he's seen the media and the general audience construct an image of who they think he is. I think in that context it's a fair enough term.

I would disagree and it helped shout 'hagiography' re the doc. Which means, I assume, it's going to go light on his poor tourist film-making, etc.

It goes light on a lot of the darker aspects of his life. But it's not intended as a warts and all pic, and what you have to remember is Match Point was very well received, as was Vicky Cristina.

I thought Match Point got several reviews noting the dialogue was produced by someone with a tin ear for the way we speak? Or was that only UK reviews with the US carrying on oblivious.

If the doc is more balanced then the trailer does absolutely nothing to suggest that and serves the film very poorly then. I wrote it off as a never watch.

A couple of negative Brit ones, but generally very well received. I don't see the point in you ever watching it, tbh. The point of the doc is to have access to his life and to look at his creative process. It'd be like me watching a documentary about the creative process of Alan Parker or James Cameron. It's just not for me.

I'm not giving in!

How about Mary & Max it's like a Mike Leigh stop motion animation. You've seen it right?

Hi,

can you recommend me some great crime/thriller movies? I'm not looking for gangster movies, just a murder case and people investigating etc.
