Oh no.... it doesn't look like a photo from 1940. It looks like some geeks at an art college whipped up a few costumes, took a picture on their crappy digital camera and added a sepia tone. It looks like a horrendous fancy dress party that happened last week. Terrible.

 I've got my reservations about this film, but that looks spot on. They're meant to be a bunch of amateur crimefighters almost 'playing dress up', basing their costumes on 1940's comic books, and that's what they look like. When the god-like Dr. Manhattan shows up and tries to fit in with these guys it'll be great.

 The Comedian in the Minutemen is in the Watchmen, isn't he? I'm trying to figure out if it's Jeffrey Dean Morgan in that Minutemen photo. The square jaw and big grin could be his, but it's kind of hard to tell. If it's just a photo, then the ageing process wouldn't matter so much, but it would for any flash back scenes.

I gotta say I have little to no interest in this film. From what I've seen the costumes look terrible. I thought, when they gave batman nipples, we'd seen the worst of it... not so... not so at all.

It might also be worth mentioning explicitly for those who don't know what Watchmen is, the story isn't set in the 1940s.  These are not the main characters, or at least not the costume style of the main characters, who should be far more up-to-dat. This picture is supposed to look naff.  Like when you flick through an old photo album and you-can't-believe-your-mum-and-dad-went-out-dressed-like-that sort of naff.

Nope, because that looks like a load of old arse as well.

To be fair the fact you guys get so obsessive about it puts me off more than the actual "graphic novel" (always makes me laugh that one) itself.

Looks like it's shaping up.  The next person who posts and says 'the costumes look crap what's that all about?' is a rotten egg.  I'm not a comic book fan but I enjoyed Watchmen, and I will be thoroughly interested to see how/if they manage to to pull it off.

Why would it make you laugh? Graphic Novel was originally a term to distinguish between a one-off story done as a comic, but not previously released as individual comics. Now it covers collected editions. Quite simple really.

I have a feeling you're in the wrong thread...
