 I think the face turn will come out of what Angle has done for the business rather then any gimmick. It'll be like Benoit in that it will be hard to turn him after everything he's done.

That said, I've read a report on this week's Smackdown (was recorded earlier than normal) and it's interesting...........

Every show is turning out to be interesting this year so far.
RAW was great this week. Again HBK vs Angle stole the show with a great TV match.
Edge vs Flair was good as well. Edge doing a splash off a ladder on to flair through a table was brilliantly executed.

Well, Heidenreich was one of Johnny Ace's callups from OVW as well, so I'm sure there's a limit to his power. It's unusual that they got rid when he was probably as over as he ever was.

I've just read on the WWE.com Smackdown preview that Finlay's debut (yay!) is against Matt Hardy, who he'll no doubt squash in about two minutes (boo!). Good to see that spite got in the way of creating a genuine top-level babyface. Fancy that, they could have pushed Hardy on Raw and had a wrestler that people actually want to cheer for instead of John Cena Boo, to give him his full name.

 Random Smackdown thoughts...

I am officially bored with the Boogeyman. It took a lot longer than I thought it would, truth be told. God only knows what his match with JBL at the Rumble will be like. I'd guess five minutes chasing Bradshaw with worms, then getting distracted by Jillian, followed by a Clothesline From Hell and hopefully bye-bye Boogey.

Looks like they really are turning Angle face (or at least having him as a strongly babyface-leaning tweener), which I have no problem with per se other than the fact that it totally ignores recent continuity. But hey, what's new?

Finlay's debut was as good as could have been with that daft ending, which did him no favours. He looked to be moving pretty well, plus I thought the spot with the baseball slide into the ring apron was genius. Reckon they should have him work babyface though, as his promos the past few weeks weren't at all heelish. Plus he's got way more innate charisma than Blandy Lashley.

The Gymini appear to be pretty pointless at this point, especially now they appear to have gotten Bill Alfonso to bulk up and become their manager. They'll probably go the way of the Dicks in a few weeks. Speaking of pointless, why exactly did they bring Spanky back? Just so Paul London doesn't have to job solo anymore? They need to split London and Kendrick up and get Jamie Noble on Smackdown pronto so we can actually have a sodding Cruiserweight Division again. I'm sick of having to put up with Steve Romero to see any cruiserweight matches these days.

I'm looking forward to Daivari as Henry's manager. Henry hasn't really shown any of the reported improved mic skills he picked up in OVW since he's been back on Smackdown, so it'll be handy to have Daivari as a mouthpiece. Especially as it now seems he's dropped the "shouting in Arabic" part of his gimmick, which makes total sense. I mean, who was he yelling at? It was blatantly obvious that Muhammad Hassan didn't have a clue what he was going on about (no surprise as he wasn't actually Arabic), let alone Kurt.

The Finlay finish wasn't too bad. It was his debut and it's good the WWE went a different route than the same old 30 second squash debuts. It also made Matt Hardy look good not having him job. Once a wrestler becomes a jobber he's a jobber for ages. (any Cruiserweight apart from Mysterio).
JBL vs Boogeyman doesn't sound terrible. It does sound a hell of a lot better than the Casket match from last byears Rumble between Taker and Heidenwhatshisface.
Angle must be knackered. He's been in brutal TV matches every show for over two weeks now. I don't know how he can put himself through it all.

Let the Rumblus begin this Sunday.
These are my predictions for the PPV. Seems very average but the Rumble match is always a treat and there are a decent number of upper card wrestlers on it this year. Plus HHH is in the Rumble, his first since he won it back in 2002.
 
Boogeyman vs JBL
This ain't the best prospect on the card. There's gonna be a brawl no doubt in this one, but who gets the win is a mystery. I'm guessing The Boogeyman.
 
Edge vs John Cena (WWE Title)
This looks like the best non-rumble match on the card but they have got to have a good match to hype things up for Mania because i think at one of these two could be in the main event (maybe both if it's a triple threeat. I'm guessing Edge will win as major titles don't change at the Rumble anymore. Hasn't happened since 1999.
 
Ashley vs Mickie James (Special Guest Referee: Trish Stratus)
Why does Ashley have a match at such a major PPV? I don't know why they bother. I'm guessing Mickie James will win to keep her run going until Mania where she will no doubt challenge for the title.
 
Mark Henry vs Kurt Angle (World Title)
I think the match result is obvious here with Kurt Angle retaining the gold. It's a question of wheather Angle can carry Henry to a half-decent match. I don't think this will suck because Mark Henry can entertain with his current persona but i don't expect a classic.
 
30-man Royal Rumble
So many choices in this one.I'll go for Randy Orton. HHH is probably the safe pick but i don't want him headlining yet another Wrestlemania. Orton vs Angle would be one awesome main event.

I managed to forget to record Raw on Monday........

I'm going for one of the following winning the Rumble on Sunday:
Orton
Rey
HHH

I can see HBK being there towards the end and getting screwed over.  Either that or he's being put in first!

Either way - WM is going to be f'ing shite this year!!!

There is also a rumour that Angle has picked up an injury in this week's Smackdown recording.  Apparently it's an injury that would normally result in handing back the title and taking a long break...... but he's not doing it.

Not a fan of The Undertaker I take it?

Last year's Rumble was pretty good with all the mini-stories and angles they had in there, so here's hoping they can do something similar this year.

Finally got round to seeing RAW this week and it was impressive. Although HBK vs Benjamin wasn't as good as their classic last year it was still a solid match. Shelton's mama is pissing me off now. She's just a female Daivari in the corner.

Royal Rumble News......!!!


Instead of the wrestlers drawing their entry spots before the event...... Mr McMahon will be drawing the spots as the event takes place.
I presume that means that he will have a pot of names as opposed to numbers and will draw the name out every 3 minutes (or whatever the time slot is).
Guaranteed to see HBK as one of the first two then or have him left out altogether!!
