...that whenever an iconic role somewhere on the peripheries of nostaliga or geekiness is available, everyone will suggest Nathan Fillion. Just think how rich the guy would be if Empire forum readers ran Hollywood...!

Me hoping for a BSG style make over, with buck waking up in the mists of an all out giant galatic war. BIDI BIDI.

More importantly, who are they going to get to play super-hot Col. Wilma Deering? Hubba hubba. Oh Erin Gray, how happy you made my childhood years....

Definitely Nathan Fillion!! I'm half way through the Firefly series and I can't believe it was cancelled! Now I know what all the outrage was about from fans! This would be a perfect role for him but may leave him typecast to such movies!! Well done empire, continue to plug him for big roles and hopefully some director will pick up on it. He's had his Han Solo movie with serenity, lets see him in an indiana-esque adventure!! The new Harrison Ford!

Yummy, Wilma Deering..... Have we even got anyone as hot as Erin Gray was in the 80's around to play the role. 'Cos I can't think of anyone, except maybe Uma Thurman...

Pity, Gil Gerard let himself go. He's the size of a small moon now.

Fillion would be great AND it is possible as Nu Image and Millenium Films have thr rights and they're not realyl a HUGE studio with the budget to command a huge star.

Here's hoping.

Bidi-bidi-bidi-Buck off! I hated that little robot twat. Guy Pierce is my suggestion for Bucko. Though I'd rather a John Carter film. Never read it but sounds a very interesting story. Oh! And a live action Dan Dare! With Damian Lewis as Dare. How cool would that be!?

21st century? That should be exciting seeing as he spent all of it in suspended animation.

The South Park spoof is still the best update Rogers could ever get.

And Nathan Fillion should be in everything. Ever. Revive him if needed.

I remember there being some hot girls in Buck Rogers, but I was young at the time. Anyway, wasn't BR re-made, in the form of the TV show Farscape?

I think Jimmy Connors would be a good choice for the role.

Your memories are failing, guys. Twiki didn't "just say his name and over and over" (though he did spend in an inordinate amount of time doing this). He had a complete English vocab, voiced for most of the series by the fab voice actor, Mel Blanc, more famous for his Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck renditions. That's how all robots should talk!

I used to love the Buck Rogers game for the Mega Drive. It was truly awesome. Of course, I was five at the time...

they're going to make it all serious. If Frank Miller's attached I suspect this will be quite po-faced. Now, before the Geekoids shit their pants, let me say this. I know Miller's work, I liked Dark Knight Returns. I liked 300 and I liked Sin City. But they were heightened reality, and all original works. This is an adaptation of every young boy's favourite tv programme. Andnot because of Buck, oh no. I',m talking about Erin Grey as Wilma in those tight, tight catsuits. Fuck me she was gorgeous (when you were 12). SO this is ripe for the homage. Yes to Nathan Fillion coz he's got the right mix of action smarts and 'what me?' comic stylings. But Frank Miller will turn this into a po-faced pompous 're-boot'. He's the wrong guy.

As long as Frank doesn't make it look like Sin City or The Spirit I'll be happy, though I still think he's a odd choice for this. I'd be quite interested in an animated version inspired by the redesigned Buck Rogers sketch the late comic artist Mike Wieringo did last year.

If Buck Rogers fails to make it to the big screen, fear not as a naughty movie could be made instead and we'd call it
