Seriously. Single most pointless sequel idea. Ever.

It sounds as if it barely even has any connections to the first. Why not change a few names and just make it a stand alone film?

I feel like a small part of my insides have been raped! Any news if Maggie Gylenhaal will return? At least if she did I'd expect the film to have something half decent in it to attract her. I was actually surprised that Kelly isn't involved himself after the bomb that was Southland Tales I was thinking it was a quick "Oh shit, better make some money for the studio so they will let me make more films" idea. So this one will be based in 1992 I believe? What great hits on the soundtrack can we expect from then then?

Don't do it. The more we learn, the worse this whole thing gets. The Director's Cut addded nothing. This will decimate everything!

I didn't really enjoy the film that much but I know a some friends who did and they will be horrified by this. (In Yoda voice) "Gone the complex plot of the first one will be by the coming of a sequel."

No. I mean, I'd love to see a sequel being just as good, but it's not going to happen, so just leave it alone.

I guess this will be a worthy successor to... American Psycho 2. You know, with the Shat.

It's stupid, regressive and nonsense to do a sequel to Donnie. Leave it as it is. It needs to remain the Cult Classic it's become. I bet this is just because Southland Tales was a washout for Richard Kelly, not he's freaking out and decided to cash in on Donnie.

There doesn't seem to be anything else to say does there? What the hell is the point, someone got money to throw away on a completely unnecessary sequel? Is Samantha a cheerleader now, dancing to the Spin Doctors, or worse. Does Jim Cunningham get out of jail to take his revenge on her? Who cares?! Bunch of idiots.

Donnie Darko is one of my all time favourite films. The very existence of a sequel feels like it will taint the original. I shall just pretend I never read this story and suppress any knowledge of it. I will be blind to any future details on the movie. Empire, you could help me in this gambit by deciding to act as if it doesn't exist. Just ignore it and it will go away. So, move along, nothing to see here...

Donnie Darko is one my favourite movies (something Richard Kelly tried to wreck with that abysmal Directors Cut DVD) and it really doesn't warrant a sequel.
It's going to be like American Psycho 2: a straight to dvd movie with none of the people that made the first one so brilliant, drab actors, an unbelivably banal story, and cheeper then a poundland bogroll.

This is an awful idea, i'm so glad Kelly isn't involved (unlike the integrity transplant patient that is Neil Marshall). Donnie Darko was a perfect little self contained gem, this is wrong. However, if someone has had a good idea for a script, it could work well as a stand alone film, they shouldn't attach it to Darko, it's not like either of Samantha's Gyllenhaal siblings will be appearing in this...

donnie Darko is one of the best standalone films in modern times when everything needs a sequel. And now it has given in to the corporate scam, with a terrible idea. The only thing that could possibly change my mind is if I knew for sure that Richard Kelly was on board. Stupid idea.

An overratted movie (IMO flamers!) getting a Hollywood sequal... what were the odds!

No wonder more and more people are looking towards TV productions for originality!
