No don't worry you're not. I like the film but find it far too overhyped.

You're entitled to your opinion, as am I.  Personally I found the whole film tedious in the extreme.  It looks gorgeous and has a decent ending, but as for the preceding 2 hours, I've had more excitement and thrills in a dentist's waiting room.  Its clearly a Michael Mann thing as I didn't like Miami Vice either.

fair enough, I actually think Michael Manns a bit of a one hit wonder, hate Vice too, Collaterall wasn't bad, but its no Heat.

Oh, and Ben Hur. The remake I mean, I haven't seen the silent version.

I would also like to add every single James Cameron film. Except Piranha 2. Which everyone knows is shit.

Actually looking back I do quite enjoy some of Mann's stuff, maybe I was a bit hasty in that.  Heat and Miami Vice are the two I don't enjoy though.

Winning Oscars it didn't deserve, making a billion bucks, overlong, rarely touching, poor romance, nmever ending sinking sequence...most overhyped film of all time. Literally. But not bad.

Sorry, couldn't love it, great chariot chase though.

On my Top 100 Films I've seen this year post, Juno is actually below Man of the Year. That one with Robin Williams. I think it's about 5th lowest. Just above Aliens. I don't update my list very often though.

It's not just Titanic. I don't care about Titanic, it's the rest of his output.

For winning Oscars over LA Confidential, and Starship Troopers, for torturing me with the poor romance, for wasting me an hour and a half of my life, the other hour and a half was quite good. Making a million bucks is ok, there are worse succesful films out there(like POTC), a the praise is not.

It makes me less pissed off of my hour and a half wasted watching that film. And preventing ST winning its deserved Oscar.

Starship Troopers effects were. Aliens and Terminator were exciting, tense films. Titanic, now that was half-boring. Which is the religious allegory one? Be careful, you could end up talking about Badlands(which I love/adore/unhealthy obsession).

How can you say that Aliens or The Terminator are boring? They are fantastic.

P.S. I agree about Taxi Driver, whoever said it. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Anyway, The Matrix is the most overhyped film I've ever seen, off the top of my head. More lately I'd add Zodiac to that category.

I've never entered the Cameron debate, but I think people do forget his greatness and input towards cinematic innovation.

Piranha was a moment of B greatness, and every film he has done has since changed the cinema landscape. Need evidence? The first Terminator has been aped in many STV movies and T2 had as big an impact on effects as Jurassic Park. Yet it was The Abyss that paved the way for both and I do believe his venture into 3D will be a technical marvel.

I love Titanic and anyone who says they have seen any better effects like that (at the time) of the ship sinking is lying. It was as beautiful to see as horrible to imagine.

Saying that, as wonderful the SFX in T2 was, I find it boring.

Yes. The whole Terminator franchise is one big tiresome Jesus Christ (John Connor) allegory.

Because they have the same initials?

Yes, there's similarities but there's also similarities with Spartacus (a leader revolting against oppression).

You can see religious allegories anywhere if that's what you're after (or suspicious of) but for me The Terminator is a love story, a man comes into this woman's life, turns it upside down but gives her the gift of a child and courage.
