I have such a girl-boner for Jeff Goldblum.

Love Jurassic Park, but this thread got me thinking: are there any other great Dinosaur movies? None spring to mind, at all, which is pretty weird!

Hello Carabinus. Nah, I can't think of any other great Dino-films. Not a hater but I have no time for the ol' Harryhausen/stop-motion stuff anymore and the Dinosaurs in Jackson's KONG looked crap. JURASSIC all the way!

I can watch Jurassic Park for the fx but not for the story or characters, so if I want less irritating characters I would watch Valley of Gwangi or a Doug McClure movie and can live through the less sophisticated fx. Pretty sure there's more dino animation in Gwangi than Jurassic Park as well, or at least it feels that way.
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth is interesting for the fx--prior to JP and go motion technology from Dragonslayer, it had the most realistic stop motion.
But most of the dialogue consists of people saying Neekro and Ateeka over and over again.

Actually the Rite of Spring in Fantasia is a major dinosaur sequence.
I watched it to prepare me before seeing Jurassic Park the first time in 93.

Jurassic park was ahead of it's time. The first time I saw the dinosaurs I was absolutely amazed at the FX. Nothing today will have the same effect on me.

The Dinosaurs part is great from Fantasia however the whole film is wounderful.

However I will add a film that Steven Spielberg produced The Land Before Time great music score by James Horner.
I saw it at the Cinema twice when I was a Kid still holds up well even now.

Ha Ha Ha! LAND BEFORE TIME.... Anyone else get flashbacks of 'Timmy Brisby' whenever that film is mentioned...?

First 'proper' blu-ray news -

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Jurassic-Park-Trilogy-Blu-ray/24947/

I hope that isn't the final cover/packaging art! Anyhoo, along with the 'original SW trilogy', these'll be a welcome addition.

I had this for the snes.

Its main selling point was its 3D levels which were a new thing back then, although tbh they were quite lame.

The game was fucking hard as well.

I never played any of the many games console / PC games based on the franchise but I do remember this arcade version based on THE LOST WORLD, which was pretty cool -

I'm currently re-reading the original novel for the umpteenth time as well; this was the book that made me become a Michael Crichton fan. I gotta say, all this talk about a fourth movie is a bit off-putting in my opinion. Three films were enough and no 'reboot' is necessary. Also, it seems a bit wrong to make another JP as Crichton has passed away.

Jurassic Park is one of my favourite films. I can watch it over and over again. Brilliant computer generated graphics. Not so keen on the sequel though.

Love Jurassic Park.  Agree with what everyone is saying, one of Speilberg's best films, don't make summer blockbusters like this anymore, FX still hold up better than most films today.

I was about 13 when this film came out, so i was at just the right age that film was targeted at and boy did i lap it up.  It was the last real event film for me at the old flea pit cinema in our town and you had to book to get a seat or queue for hours to watch it.  I remember having to wait about 2 weeks before we could get in and see it after release.  This was the last really good film shown at the cinema before it closed in 1997, and i lost a lot of childhood magic going to the multiplex in the next town.

I don't think i have watching anything since that i thought was real or maybe that was the child in me at the time who really wanted the dinos to be real.

I will be ordering the Blu-Ray on release to add it to the VHS and DVD already in my collection but a film like this has to be double dipped as its just so good.

Pic of me at Universal near the Jurassic Park ride, which if you ever get the chance to go is great fun, although not as scary as the Jaws ride for some reason:

As I mentioned before - I urge all fans of the film to read Crichton's book which is amazing.

Yeah, same here. Been a while since I've watched any of the films; I've sold my R1 DVDs and deliberately avoid watching them on TV (I don't like the edits or ads).

I know Cineworld are. Vue haven't got it on their site, nor have Odeon. I hope Odeon show it because it's the nearest to me and can't really afford to go out of the way to see it at present (and there are 3 other films I want to see all out within that week!). But they showed BTTF when that was re-released last year so I'm optimistic.

I'm actually really excited about seeing this film on the big screen again. By far one of Spielberg's finest and it was such a tremendous experience in 1993 and one of those rare moments when the film lived up to the hype.
