 it's a shame this film has never recieved any 'special edition' dvd treatment; I guess that because of the touchy subject of terrorism it's the black sheep of Cameron's filmography.

 The action in the last 30-40 minutes or so is incredible. The rest of the film is dull and offensive in it's treatment of Jamie Lee Curtis.

But I'd still rather watch it than Titanic.

Absolutely hate this film.

Cameron's weakest (Piranha 2 doesn't count - he was fired after a few weeks), very generic despite some impressive set-pieces. Lame villains to boot.

How do you follow Terminator 2 with this rubbish?

Tasker in the Harrier Jump Jet - AWESOME! I remember watching TRUE LIES at the cinema back in '94 - it was a blast! There's a serious lack of High-Octane, Summer action films these days.
 
however, there are a few due out in 2010 that could change all that....
 
btw.... I WANT TRUE LIES BLU-RAY!!!!!!

Paxton is all kinds of awesome in it "The 'vette, gets 'em wet!"  I love the scene where he's laughing in the car and Arnie imagines himself battering him in the face with a backhand, its fucking hilarious

I'd watch this over Avatar and Titanic every time. And yeah Arnie looks maniacal when trying to be fun with his family at the end. Pure gold. 'Stop cheering me up!'

This is just a fun movie, Arnold is great and Tom Arnold and Bill Paxton are hilarious. I love the harrier sequence by the high rise in Miami.

" Give me goddamn page" breaks the window CRACK, while Tom Arnold just kind of stands there.
I love it when he's talking to the horse
" That was the bad guy and you let him get away. What kind of partner are you?"
" Look at me when I'm talking to you. " The horse it nodding his head, it's cute.
The stunts are great too and effects, much better than most of the crap ass CGI stuff today
" Harry if you want to talk, speak into the purse."
" Omigod, the guy is a goddamn used car salesman! This just keeps better and better. Well, you know we still have to kill him though, but don't you think this is funny Harry?"
" I have a little dick, it's pathetic. Would a spy pee himself?"
" Get lost dipshit."
The dialogue is hilarious.

 It’s definitely bringing it up the rear of the James Cameron arsenal for me. It’s good fun but its narrow minded racism almost beggars belief at points! Simply doesn’t feel like a James Cameron film to me. Especially when, as stated before, it followed Terminator 2! It’s just feels like Arnie asked Cameron to direct it as a favour and he agreed. It’s not terrible by any stretch of the imagination. It’s a toss between this and Titanic for my least favourite Cameron film but at least Titanic had serious ambition and scope! If not in its story at least in its execution (And you Avatar). This is just, well…OK I suppose. But it represents the beginning of the decline of the Cameron I love and grew up with. Actually, that’s a little harsh as his films still have merit I suppose. But the feel of the James Cameron movie I love ended with T2. The hard edge is just gone. Probably mellowed somewhat with age. Which is only natural I suppose but a damn shame when you stop making films like he used to. Still, I enjoyed True Lies, Titanic and Avatar but these are simply not films that I can absolutely adore. Unlike the best film ever made, being Aliens!

 TITANIC was crap, THAT is the worst film in Cameron's list. I HATE it with a venom-induced passion. TRUE LIES ROCKS! I remember back in '94, it was the best fun I had at the cinema.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- I think True Lies is half a good movie, it really bloody sags in the middle. The stuff with Jamie Lee Curtis and Bill Paxton wasn't needed in my opinion. It starts well and ends well, but there's about 40 minutes in the middle I could do without.

It's not a film I can watch over and over, unlike other action films of the 90s (or the 80s, especially the 80s). In fact, I probably will never watch the full film again.

I'm hardly a fan of Titanic but at least it has that Cameron feel of trying to accomplish something big and ambitious. True Lies is a fun action film that could have been made by any number of decent action directors and does not have a James Cameron feel to it. At all. But for all its faults (and there are many) Titanic is a massive film, made on a massive scale that only James Cameron could have made.

Both are far from the top of his output though. And THAT is a FACT

This part is most certainly an undisputable FACT.

However, when it comes to the actual crux of the thing (the sinking), there is not a moment in True Lies that holds a candle to Titanic in terms of spectacle. The last 45 minutes were, are and always will be some of the most seriously insane images ever put to film. Was genuinely jaw dropping on a big screen! Again, not saying True Lies is bad, just an OK, fun film that many other directors could have made.

The 45 minute unreleased edit of Titanic is the best film never released!

Would love to see both The abyss ( Cameron best film) and True Lies (Uncut please) but he's probably busy working on another verison of Avatar (his Worst film) that he will inflict on the world again he's getting as bad as George Lucas with Star wars.
