With Street Fighter IV on the horizon and with the probaly more immediate release of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
I thought it was time for Street Fighter to have it's own thread. The King of fighters in my opinion. Yes it has had it's up's & down's but 4 looks to be a big step forward and a sequel worth making.

Many years ago my mate & I used to hammer Street Fighter to death (on the SNES I think). I remember walking 3 miles to meet him from work so we could get to his house to play it  when he first got it (not sure I'd ave that dedication now).

He was always Ryu and I was always Chung-Li (due to her speed). Most bouts involved me bouncing around the screen trying to aviod his fireballs until I could get close enough to deliver the devastating 3 kick combo to his head. I always wanted to play as Dhalsim as I liked the fact he could stretch across half the screen with his kicks. The problem was he was a bit naff once the opponent got close to you.

I'll cetainly be getting any new street fighter games that come out.

Far from naff, he had some of the most powerful grab-moves in the game, probably second only to Zangief.

SF series is incredible. Perfect beat-em-ups.

Although Marvel Vs Capcom II is probably my favourite.

Street Fighter was, is, and always will be the best beat-em-up ever made . I was always Ken or Zangief..

It certainly does. Glad I did not buy the one that's on XBLA now. Street Fighter will always be close to the heart. The first SNES game I played. I am pretty sure it came with the console. First couple of matches against my bro and I whipped him! That never lasted though. He became a demon on that game.

Especially with Ken. Took me a long time to catch up to him. If ever I did beat him when he was using Ken he would throw the SNES control at me. They were durable...also they had a long cable so he could get me from anywhere in the room...

I was never rubbish at the game though and could beat all my mates but my brother was somthing else. My favourite character was and still is Ryu. I can give him more than a run for his money now too. I became quite the legend at Super Street Fighter 2. I missed out on the Alpha series really only played the odd game at the arcade. Then got an N64 which had none of them.

 The SNES was the first 'big' console I ever owned (I had a GameBoy beofore that) and Street Fighter 2 Turbo was the first game I got - absolutely brilliant!  I used to like Dhalsim, if you got it right your opponent couldn't even get close to you!  Blanka was kind of the same with his crouching electrocution type move.  Awesome game

Used to love Streetfighter 2 when i was a teen. Amazing game, i could spend hours playing that game with my mates, and despite a brief affair with Mortal Kombat 2 i ended back at SF2. My favourite in the series has to be StreetFighter Alpha 3, an amazing list of characters, outlandish movse and the chance to customise your charatcers, my customised Fei Long was nearly unbeatable in uni!

I wasn't to sure about the new characters when viewing stills, but seeing them in action they look real cool. El Fuerte looks super fast.

Agreed, I didn't think much of the early shots, but it looks good now seeing it in motion. What I don't like though is how much more bulkier they've made the charactors. Ryu's feet look like the hulk's!

 When I had my video shop, if I remember rightly, I had Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat for a while.

I remember watching grown men battling and throwing themselves into the games. They used to nearly pull the arcade machine over, they were so into the gameplay.

Just a memory, I'd thought I'd share............

Alpha 3 was the pinnacle in the series and for me the definitive beat em up.  Looking forward to HD remix, it looks great.

I'm not sure. I don't think the anima appears in-game, but it would be pretty cool if it did.
