George, get a grip. The Wire is reality-based, no-easy-answers genius. 24 is so realistic it may as well be set on the sun.

It's good that the live action show will be influenced by shows like 24 and The Wire as maybe he can add so menace (phantom or otherwise) to the Empire. They always seemed to me like panto villains who camp it up (especially the emperor) tremendously and no maybe they will have some teeth.
Although I have a feeling the show will struggle as they wont feature Darth or Luke and co so they will feature them by the enhd of the 1st series/start of the 2nd.

Why the hell does he not just do a TV series about the Jedi, or Boba Fett... Give the people what they want damn it!!!! Although a Lightsaber wielding Jack Bauer would be AMAZING!!!

Probably because the Jedi's have been done to death and anymore would be overkill?

Watching a show about death stick dealers on the back streets of Mos Eisley would be an interesting way to take the franchise...

I'm really looking forward to the Live-Action Star Wars-series. In this tv-generation (The Lost-24-Prison Break-age) we can get close to the quality of the films. Especially if ILM will be doing it. Not only that, but the style and tone in this tv-gen is much better than it ever was. But the animated series? Nah...

Why do people rate george lucas still? if anything he has proved he is a bearded wally, hell STAR WARS episode 1 THE PHANTOM MENACE is possibly the worst big budget schlock fest ever.
CLONE WARS and REVENGE OF THE SITH were so so.
the original star wars movies were good dumb fun. lucas is flogging a dead horse.

I think the live action series has the promise of something special. I'm not surprised Lucas mentioned 24 and the wire in the same sentance, I've heard that they are planning to make it in a similar style as the revisted Battlestar Galactica. The dark side (sorry) of the starwars universe has a massive amount of potential......and I'm pretty sure the amount of adult starwars fans can make this a huge comercial success. Just think Sith serial killers, Stormtrooper curb crawlers....could be interesting......George please don't fuck this up!

I would really like an interviewer to ask him why he felt the need when the (very good) 2D cartoon network version did the clone wars and if this will be ignoring (or even contradicting) and of it?

oh my god, totally agree with you dude...i just found out about this star wars animated feature length flick and i was like what....mate, are you kiddin me!? The clone wars shorts mastered by the dudes at cartoon 'samurai jack' network was the best star wars thing i'd seen in years mate..lol! Personally i thought the 2D animated clone wars was better than episodes 1 to 3 put together....really can't see the point of them lot bringing out a pixar looking rip off of a clone wars tale thats already bin told in an incredible way! Sheeeeeez, i mean if it's not broke..don't try and fix it you know!

The more Lucas revisits that galaxy far far away, the more he ass-rapes the original three films! The funny thing is all the prequals, live action tv shows and cartoons will never top the opening shot of a new hope! No matter how hard he tries.

Yes you're right, that is funny. I don't see why he has to top the opening shot of A New Hope. I personally can't wait for this, I loved the first two volumes of the Clone Wars and I really love the Star Wars Universe and releasing new stories from this universe is no bad thing in my books. It takes nothing, absolutely nothing, away from my love of the original trilogy. Plus, don't you want to see the Clone Wars in all their glory? The prequels only showed us the beginning and end of them, this is the chance to see them properly.

Just watched that new tralier and it looks positively awesome.

STAR WARS is over, we can't go back to the 70's and 80's and be wowed like we used to, the prequels proved that.Mr Lucas try another concept......please.

I do think it looks good. The animation looks excellent, especially for a TV series, I just don't think it was really all that necessary after the cartoon network version.

You are are all arogant! You need to realise that George is just trying to give us some more material to worship! Its a seperate entity to the original films, and if you want them to remain untouched, just dont watch this! It will be amazing to have

I have to say,...even as a Star Wars super-fan, i agree with you. George Lucas should get of his fat arse and think about creating something new.....I mean what next,... Indiana Jones 4!?.....wait.......
