 WellI I'm one that likes to make up his own mind so I'll be seeing it. Interesting to see that both Empire and TF love it yet many US reviewers don't. Perhaps the grim tone IS problematic for many reviewers... the big babies.

It does seem though that whatever the review, everyone is singling out Anton Yelchin as doing a fantastic job as Reese.

Can't wait.

Yeah the review on Total Film actually reads like a review and not like a lot of the crap that is going about.

 Harry Knowles review is fucking abysmal.  Fair enough, don't like a movie if you don't like it, but for the love of God write an actual review rather than just a stream of nonsense.  Utter fucking gibberish.  That man needs to stop comminting reviews to his own site, just leave it to the other reviewers.

Anyway, the review over at CHUD (the site I most trust for honest opinions these days) is pretty good.  It's an actual review of what works and what doesn't.  It's written coherently and makes sense.  Good review, and I get the feeling that this will be the closest to my own feelings. 

I still can't wait to see it and I'll be there opening night withough question.

 Just read the chud review,as has been mentioned it's an actual review unlike the fat mans. One intresting point made think it was devin, that the original "shit" ending was better than the one they have now.

 Release date here for the UK is unchanged. its only 2 weeks away now. I can't see them bringing it forward now its only 2 weeks away.

I heard that Transformers had changed its UK release and brought it forward, but not sure if that's genuine.

Regards Terminator Salvation, I've not read many reviews but its been a mixed bag, but nothing is stopping me going to watch the film.

The only thing that has concerned me is that if it does get a lot of bad publicity, I think there will be a higher chance of the torrent pirates getting their hands on it while we wait for it to come across the Atlantic.

 Empires reviews can be hard to judge on how valid they are sometimes but their review of T4 sounds genuine.Heck,i really enjoyed T3 so i guess il enjoy this one as well.Looking forward to the Arnie cameo.

No mention of how good the lighting is though.Hmmm

 Actually Tech, I agree with you. People forget that The Terminator isn't about Arnie front and centre but about the Reese/Connor family.

The Terminator franchise was just wrapped around his star wattage and the sequels suffered because of this.

Still, if it's done well, I'd be interested to see how this 'cameo' is done. Has to be better than those T3 deleted scenes with Arnie as a US General.

Dont worrry guys,maybe Summer Glau pops up in the new movie as well,oh wait a minute,that show was crap and swiftly cancelled because only about 3 people were watching it.

Re-watch The Terminator and tell me if you think Arnold Schwarzenegger was the main character. Did his character go through some life changing experience?

T2 tried to give him some character arc and look how lame that turned out to be. He knows why we cry now!

Well on a fundamental level it isn’t actually him at all so I’m hardly beside myself at the prospect of it, being a Terminator fan of actual Terminator films! Those being the ones directed by the man who created these wonderful characters and actually cared for them and where they are going. If I want to get exited by Arnies image again I’ll go rent ‘Jingle All the Way’

Well I am both A and B and I really couldn't give a shit about Arnie being in the film or not. he's by far the easiest thing to lose. The orignal film was never meant as a star vehicle for him, although it did become one. The second and third were and suffered as a result. T2 is still a brilliant film but is essentially a remake of the first the only thing that T3 has going for it is the ending.

 middling reviews aside, i can see this movie being being much more fondly recalled than T3. I base that purely on the humour factor. It seems to me that the complete absence of humour and adherence to a dark tone will cement its place in fans hearts much more than T3.

I agree that ehat the series needed is a significant step away from Arnie's terminator. As first and foremost the character was originally just an antagonist, and like Timon said, was only really continued with in the sequel due to his 'star wattage'. I wonder if Cameron EVER considered a second Terminator movie without Arnie, and perhaps where that story could have gone.

This movie will be solid. Not necessarily amazing or anything but certainly no disaster.

is THIS the CG Arnold we've been hearing about for so long? I guess the technology has been pushed as far as it can realistically go, without actually achieving realism.

Actually Sarah Conner in my opinion was the biggest character in The Terminator and Terminator 2. Yes Arnold played the assassin well in the first film and the hero in the 1st sequel. However the biggest character developement was Sarah Conner.

I am actually disappointed having Arnold's face on the T RIP. To me it serve no purpose unless time travel had occurred and Skynet is planning to use a familiar face to get to john like in T3. Anyway the cameo is meant to be short and it is the only time we hear the main Terminator theme.

 Whoa, both those CGI Arnies are pants pudding! Which leads me to believe that they are neither is the fully rendered model as one of the (few) positives I’m hearing is that the FX work on the digital Arnie is outstanding. Still seems like a cheap shot to me though to even have him in it.

 Cannot wait for this. Enjoyed Empire's review, but I've disagreed with many of their reviews since they gave The Game 2 stars way back in 97(ish) and Superman Returns 5 stars. Art is a subjective thing: you like what you like, you hate what you hate. I'm sure I'll love this, but am expecting a lot of dumb people to laugh at a Terminator film without Arnie in the lead.

Reading the prequel novel, From the Ashes, and it's pretty good. Nearly finished it, and am pleased with all of the characters - Reese in particular.

Anyone going to buy the video game?

I hope not. The reviews are giving the 360 version an average score and i believe it's the same with the PS3 version.

On a related note i had preordered the soundtrack and I will be listening to that while on my 360.

 One thing I'm sure I will find out when I see the film but still has me curious, is exactly what time line this film follows, is it following the events of all three or is it ignoring aspects of 2 and 3? Or is it a direct sequal?
