Just caught up with this weeks episode. Tom's "I'm only dark occasionally" cracked me up.

Pretty bollocks episode. I hate it when programmes have these stupid Judas characters who just go backwards and forwards saying the opposite thing. I also hate it when the whole drama could easily be sorted by someone just taking a few minutes to explain. On the upside at least Annie final gets to do some super-ghost stuff. About fucking time really.

Thought it was pretty neat for playing with how being 'evil' isn't necessarily about being violent, Practically every TV drama has an element of it wouldn;t have got that far if they'd just talked to each other (hell, where would most of the lazy stuff that passes for TV drama be without someone only hearing half a conversation then either going off and stewing then going ballistic or going ballistic immediately because of an apparently dumbass grasp of the nature of conflict as basically 'arguing' in the minds of some producers)., but the thing is, the three characters in BH don't have enough history to know each other so well that someone couldn't manipulate them that easily, with lesson learned by the end, and all that.

Also thought the two new male leads did well enough last night for it to be pretty clear, the show has pretty much survived a 75% cull of the core cast. Didn't miss anyone at all.

Good episode. Liked it.
How does everyone feel about the widening into other supernatural beings?
I quite enjoyed it, but I get a bit wary of the future, are we going to end up with faries and imps and what-not? After all, it's really no more out there than the core characters when you think about it.

It was okay, but I quite liked the purity of there only being 3 types of supernatural.

Didn't mind it, Ace - I don't think the odd episode about another 'being' will do any harm to the series. But like Darth stated above, I like how the three have worked well with little interference (as it were) from other supernaturals.

This series of BH is going from strength to strength. The dull days of Series 2 and formula of Series 3 are a distant memory. The new cast are excellent and as much as I loved George and Mitchell I haven't missed them at all. Looking forward to tonight.

So it's possible Annie could be leaving at the end of the series?
When he said to her something along the lines of " just remember that when your time comes it may not be doing something good" I got the impression that this was foreshadowing something to come for Annie's character by the end of the series.

Could be wrong but it would make sense and the show has proven that it can swap cast members with no issues.

I'm unaware of whether it has been confirmed anywhere that the actress is leaving.

Also, how funny is the writing? Last nights episode had so many little throwaway lines that cracked me up.

I really enjoyed the episode. It was great fun. A bit throwaway perhaps but that's not a bad thing. I'm pretty sure we'll see Allison "with 2 ls" again and I'd be quite happy with that.

Sorry to disagree with the consensus, but I thought the last episode was possibly the absolute nadir of the entire show.  What a pointless, annoying character to introduce to the mix.  Allison came across as nothing more than a pain in the arse attempt at introducing a jocular character into the mix.  This, together with the godawful vampire bouncer with a penchant for 80s action movies, just marked the lowpoint of the show.  Pity, because as has been mentioned, I think the new leads are really starting to gel, and Hal is a great introduction to the show.  I don't think there will be a problem showing his dark side next week - it's always been there just under the surface and we know his history (well, part of it at least).

As for the introduction of other supernatural creatures, is it such a stretch?  After all, we've got ghosts, vampires and werewolves.  We also had a zombie in the last show.  So why not a succubus? (Speaking of which, was I the only one who thought the succubus was Eddie Izzard doing an impression of Annette Crosbie? )

SPOILERS and bit of suppostion

So with one episode to go things are starting to fall into place. This was quite a change in tone from last week. The intercutting of Cutler's story and hsi manipulation of Hal was a bit obvious but still quite effective. I think we'll see a fair bit more of the newly dead Alex. The future dystopia was created in broad strokes and seems a little OTT. (or would have if we actually saw it)

I'm not sure that "Eve" is entirely genuine but assuming she is I reckon that Annie is going to do the "bad thing" that will let her cross over and save the world. With that done I think next series we'll see Tom and Hal together with Alex making up the ghostly component of the central trio.

Then again could be totally wrong

I think you've got the right of it, Scruff. Really enjoyed that episode, very dark and nicely setting up the characters past, present and futures - well done, I thought.

But the bit at the end, is Hal going to be there next series or even next episode?

I hope so, I really like his character and the chemistry he has with Tom is hilarious at times . . . Also he's Irish so I have to support him

Agreed, Musht. The acting chemistry between Hal and Tom is great - they bounce well off one another. So I'm crossing my fingers and toes that Hal's alright.

Think this will be the last series with Annie in it, with Alex taking over the ghostly duties. Haven't once missed George, Mitchell or Nina thanks to the strength of the Tom and Hal, both in the writing and in the acting. Hal in particular has been a bit of a revelation I think and this has been my favourity series since the first one.
