I was looking for a thread concerning watching extra's. Like there is a thread for the films you watched maybe there can be also a same kind of thread for discussing and quoting extra's you'd watched.

Combination of funny extra's (new adventure from Scrat :D hilarious), and interesting making of-features

Corps Bride: 8 /10
Nice documentaries.

Ghost Rider: 8 / 10
I was very surprised by those extra's. Very interesting making of (in three parts) and documentary about the history of the comic book "Ghost Rider". Not the

"he's super" and "she's is such a wonderful, nice women" and blablabla.....

Awesome collection of extras. The 2+ hr documentary is fantastic and as interesting as the main feature (if not more so depending on your opinion).

Mission Impossible 1,2 &3 - Ultimate Missions Collection: 5/10
Theres only so many times you can hear people talk about how great Tom Cruise is and how great the film is. Lots of explaining the plots too which annoys me. Some good stuff on the stunts though and the MTV awards skit is brilliant.

I was wondering when someone would do this.

I really try to get through all commentaries and extras on all my DVDs, before I consider them "done".
This can be a problem thouugh. Simply can't be arsed to sit through all the LOTR - EE extras. The commentaries alone, Jesus, there's what, 12 altogether, totalling about 44 hours. I've sat through 1 so far...

I watched Rush Hour 3 recently, and found afterwards that there's about 2.5 hours of extras plus a commentary.
Can I really muster the energy?

Completely agree with you Gram. I'm a bit more selective about which extras I watch now and what commentaries I listen to.

Recently I watched the bonus disc to Lost: Season 3 and I was a bit disappointed considering the quality of the extras on the first two seasons. There's nothing of any real depth and most of it is cheesy interviews with everyone saying how great everything is. 5/10

Today I watched the Carpenter/Russell commentary on The Thing. They're an absolute hoot, giving both extensive insight into the shoot and also hilarious anecdotes and they're just generally having a great time. 5/5.

Control. Haven't listened to the commentary yet but watched the making of etc... Could have been more of them, interviews with Deborak and Annick and maybe even Natalie. Barney, Hooky and Steve should've been interviewed. Bloody shame that Tony Wilson died before it came out, he'd've been in the extras for sure. 6/10

Good idea for a thread. Watched the extras on The Shield season 4. A lot better than previous seasons.Weird seeing Jay Karnes sitting around playing Draughts with Glenn Close - 3/5.

Really interesting to see how hard it is to do the CG for all robots, there was the usual "were so awesome stuff" and some the stuff was a little too technical for my tastes but other than that they were really good - 4/5

the only films iver really watched many of the extras on are Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, both of which have 1st class hilarious out-takes. well worth the watch :D

i also liked the inclusion of 2 short films on the Sunshine DVD.

I watched the second disc of extras for Independence Day recently. It's excellent: both interesting and funny. 4.5/5

I also watched the extras from disc 4 of Firefly. They're great, though not as good as the series itself. 4/5

i watched the 2 and half hour doc. on the cinema reserve version of The Fly, very good...covers the films development all the way upto the release, lots of behind the scenes footage too, a must see if your a fan of old school effects.

i started to watch Cronenberg's commentary too, bout half way through.

I watched the extras from TMNT. They're brilliant, except that for the deleted scenes the director's commentary isn't optional, meaning that you can't actually hear all of the lines.

Still, awesome extras for an awesome film (though maybe I'm biased because I love the film so much

). 5/5

I really hope they make sequels, bringing back as many of the people involved as possible, especially writer-director Kevin Munroe and composer Klaus Badelt.

Watched the Making of for In the Hands of the Gods earlier, it's a great (and unfairly overlooked) film, and I was interested to see how the documentary was made and how the film crew affected the lads that were taking part. Wasn't the best and most informative stuff to be honest, I still don't know how the whole journey came about, but it was interesting to see the way the film crew formed almost their own group of lads as well as the subjects of the film. Also, 30 minutes is a good length for a Making of doc, I can only watch more in special circumstances (Dangerous Days for example).

The Commentary on THE GOONIES DVD is Enjoyable. the commentary features Richard Donner, and all the goonies themselves. however Corey Feldman says more than anyone else, and starts to get on your tits after a while. i wnated to hear more from Donner, but mouth all mighty wouldn't let him get a word in. Usually i dont watch commentaties because they jabber on through the film, but after this commentary I am going to sart watching commentaries.

Next film to watch with commentary, SHAUN OF THE DEAD!

The Invasion: Muddled film with a very suspect set of extras. This disc avoids any of the controversy that plagued the films creation and is pretty backslappy in tone, 4/10

Watched the full making of Aliens again. The docuemntaries on the first 3 Alien films are amazing. The best bit - seeing Cameron slap down the effects teamon the set for not getting the face hugger right, and hearing about his frustrations with the British crew.

That's interesting, because I generally find that extras on effects-heavy films don't get technical enough for my liking! I haven't seen the extras for Transformers so I may nick it off someone and have a look.
