On February 16th, 2008, Hollywood.com reported that Sly was in negotiations to bring back Gabe Walker from "Cliffhanger" in a sequel tentatively titled "The Dam." This is a concept that has been around for a while, but perhaps the time is right for Walker's return.

Here Empire, do I get some sort of commission?

This is a good movie. Not a great one, but suprisingly well made and with a refreshing honesty and even a hint of genuine outrage at the situation in Burma. The fact that Sly has not swerved from the 'truth' of the Rambo movies to deliver action thrills is to be admired. I think Empire you will change your mind in a few months when this bows on DVD. For example, look at all the praise you spunked on Hostel, only to take it all back again on DVD. Re news on Cliffhanger - great! I want to see a Unrated Director's Cut of the original first though. The web has rumours of a infamous Workprint of the original that got slapped NC-17. I waited 10 years to get a Region 1 version, because I was so gobsmacked at how shit th eRegion 2 version was. All that said, for those of you who listen to any recent Renny Harlin commentary (c'mon stand up both of you) I doubt he would come back to this

When that was released in the cinema it was the best thing since sliced bread, but when it came out on dvd it was seen for the load of wank it really is. Funny how these things happen. Rambo takes me back to my youth, will not stand for any naysaying.

Two stars? I have yet to see this despite a workprint doing its rounds but I refuse to believe that it deserves such a low rating! This is the first time I get to see Rambo in the cinema so I held out and I know that the reward is gona be fruitful, or rather, bloody!! And from what feedback I have heard, the action is very much Rambo-centric and much less focused on the machines. Did this reviewer even like the old Rambo films? This is gona be a 5 star blood bath.

It's funny how Empire/Total Film/BBC all gave this two stars mainly for the violence while moaning that action films get watered down too much and all the heroes are gone.

This reminds me of why I stopped reading Empire magazine 3 years ago. I do not miss entire issues devoted to Star Wars and endless back slapping between Empire and George Lucas. Ever since Empire got pally with film producers et al: out went the unbiased reviews. I have seen this while in America and it deserves at least four stars, Stallone has created a real war film which does not shy away from reality, plus there is a big backlash against the criticisms of this film: was it really shunned by the critics because it portrays Christianity in a good light? Makes you wonder doesn't it.....

How many stars did you give Die Hard 4? Did you like all the pretty non violent special effects? I watched Rambo and was just generally pleased that they hadn't ripped the balls off it to make it happy meal freindly. I could possibly give it an extra star for standing by it's convictions and being worthy to bear the title it does.
I'm talking to you AvP, Die Hard, Robocop, The Terminator and any other adult action film that may fancy itself "reimagined" for the summer buttmunching PG-13 audience.

Did you watch this movie with your eyes closed or are you the same guy who gave that pile of s!*t cloverfield 5 stars?

This film was absolutely amazing and gave us what we've been lacking since the original harcore R18 action movies of the 80's such as Commando and the original Rambos.

Stallone did a great job of making the things his charachter does believeable for a guy in his mid to late 50's and he is far from a supporting roll. It would just be ridiculous and unbelieveable if the merc team wasn't there to support him.

Its also good to see that he appreciates what those kind of weapons do to people when used rather than the old guy flying through the air when something explodes or just blood spurting out when shot that you often might laugh at. He put accross a very good point of the gory real devestating effects that these weapons and war really have.

I found that aprart from the opening 10-15 min the film was non stop action. If anything the film could have been longer!

All in all id definitely see this film again and buy the DVD it was a pleasure to watch and a great revival of the Rambo charachter

which ever numbnuts went from the empire office to watch this is an idiot. (bet he's guide dog loved it though). this film is just so much fun. yeah theirs no point, theirs no meaning, theirs just good honest violence the sort we miss from the 80's. the body count is amazing, stallone is rather quite good and the bad guys deserve it. in a world of Bourne, Bond, Bauer, Rambo is the Daddy.

If you dislike Empire why are you still hanging around the forum? There's no shortage of places to go and discuss movies online...

Anyway, I'm hopefully seeing this tomorrow. I don't care if Empire like it or not - I'm sure it'll rock.

Riiiiiiight, that's why Episode III was given only four stars.

That doesn't automatically make it any good though.

Why are people going nuts against Empire? You don't agree, well done, why is it such a big bloody deal? It's not as though they are trying to claim grass is purple or the sky is green for fecks sake.

I haven't seen it and i never will, not even for a laugh. I wish he would retire and fade away in to obscurity where he belongs. He's a joke looking to top up his bank account and feels it's ok to insult are intelligence with such simpleton comic book horse shit. Go away stallone and disappear.

I don't wanna make excuses for the man, but I hear it was a one helluva grueling shoot. In my opinion, Stallone took too much on by writing, directing and starring in. He should've let someone else help take the strain of directing while he worked on developing the script and adding some action sequences for Rambo.  It's easier said than done though.  I believe Stallone lost faith in his director's after Danny Cannon (Judge Dread) and understandably didn't wanna trust someone else to do it right.

Very much looking forward to Son of Rambow,  the trailer looks fantastic!  Support British films kids!

Lucas Fanboy? That tells us where Empire went so very wrong. I could handle Revenge of the Sith getting five stars, but five stars for Phantom menace! Five stars for Attack of the Clones? And what where those five stars for? So Empire could get exclusive interviews with not a bad word said against Lucas. I can't believe that Empire had the nerve to say that Parker's autobiography of Lucas was a muckraker? I like George Lucas, but their relationship with him and others is getting in the way of truthful reviews-I mean a good review for Gangs of New York? Really, give me a break...I'll read Empire for free on the net, but I wouldn't pay for it anymore, By the way I read the magazine from 1989 to 2005, so I think that entitles me to a say. If they get their house in order maybe I'll start buying it again. I also notice today there is a 20 things we love about Rambo article....hmm
