And those are the cyclists they try to pretend don't exist everytime they play the martyr by using terrible accidents and demand we spend a fortune on them.

Cyclists in Dublin are a fucking nightmare. A lot of cycle paths go up onto the footpath but the cyclists aren't bothered and continue to use up the road. They also don't obey traffic lights, god I fucking hate the lot of them.

I just think they should be banned from pavements. On the roads they can be a nuisance, but on pavements they're fast moving, dangerous, and in the close vicinity of slow moving people who are exactly where they should be. I cannot be expected to get out of someone's way if they're cycling towards me from behind, it's impossible for me know if they're on the outside or the inside of the pavement, and I need time to turn around to see which way I need to move.

I know there are good cyclists who get upset when arguments such as this come up, but then they're not the ones who are the problem. The problematic ones are all too frequent though and I sympathise to an extent if the cycle paths aren't good enough, but as far as I'm concerned if it's dangerous to cycle in a particular area... don't.

Another vote for how cyclists should be banned from pavements, especially as I got knocked on my arse by some prick a couple of months back... who then gave me grief for 'getting in his way' whilst I was on the ground and bleeding...

One more step before I go all Michael Douglas in 'Falling Down'... it ain't far off, folks...

I thought cyclists were already banned from pavements - it's just, as usual, they ignore it?

In this area they have converted half the paths to mixed cycle paths and pedestrian paths. Few of the cyclists who use them actually slow down for the pedestrians though.

The thing is that there are some good cyclists out there just they appear to be few and far between much like good motorcyclists. They seem to not realise that the laws of the road apply to them as well as cars (although now it appears the number of car drivers are losing that idea).

When I worked as a Special I felt like I spent half my time yelling at people to cycle on the road not the pavement. I genuinely don't think many cyclists realise it's an offence to cycle on the pavement. Also, cyclists - a zebra crossing is for pedestrians, not bike riders.

I'm pretty sure we weren't allowed to when I was a teenager and everyone knew it - and that was quite a while ago!

Similar system in Dublin but there is a cycle lane clearly marked on the pavement so as to avoid accidents. I have no problem with this as pedestrian, but as a driver I get really annoyed when cyclists aren't bothered to go onto the pavement cycle lanes and instead cycle on the road forcing me to slow down until I can overtake. It's just pure ignorance.

Going round to a friend's tomorrow night for dinner - this has been planned for 2 weeks, and I've been looking forward to it. They drop into conversation today that their sibling is going to be joining us now too.

I've met the sibling a couple of times and I can't say I'm a fan at all. They're very stand-offish and brusque, so now instead of enjoying tomorrow night and relaxing, I'll be feeling awkward and wishing it was over quickly.

I'd spend the whole time needling the sibling, just for my own kicks. Then again, I'm a bit of a prick.

When I lived in York it was a regular occurrence for me to end up in a blazing row with a cyclist after they nearly ran into me, particularly at one pedestrian crossing where many clearly felt the red light wasn't for them.

I do remember one particular incident just before last Christmas where it was properly dark and one guy missed me by inches (no lights or reflective clothing), then proceeded to shout that I needed to "realise who has the right of f*&!ing way" and that I was "clearly blind" sadly for him it was after a particularly bad day at work so I'd shouted back that he needed to say that to my face, to my surprise, he stops, turns round and comes back, getting in my face giving it a load of abuse, at which point I calmly walked over to his bike, gave the brakes a squeeze and pointed out that as they worked fine he clearly needed to look at his cycling skills as he couldn't even stop at a red light, he went surprisingly quiet after that.

My local football team played a team from the next big town down the road today and there were about 15 - 20 supporters of the opposite team striding around my town centre, drunk as fuck at about mid-day and just looking to pick a fight with anyone who looked at them the wrong way...

Seriously, what is wrong with cunts like that? They DEMAND violence, they won't be happy unless someone looks at them the wrong way and they can throw in the fists and boots? I thought this shit went out in the 80's?

I watched families with (frightened) children shy away from them and their violent, sweary chants and the police (doubtlessly worrying about being sued if they did anything about it) did fuck all...

Pricks like that belong on the business end of a flamethrower.

So, the evening went ok with the sibling there. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and they left earlyish anyway leaving me and my friend alone.

However my friend mentioned he'd been invited to a flat party tonight which he says he was considering going to after our meal. Just the other day he'd been telling me he had a film for us to watch. So, despite insisting he wasn't fussed about going, he spent the time after our meal texting back and forth with (I assume) whoever was at the party and having to take a couple of calls blatantly asking him where he was.

Naturally this just made me feel like I was stopping him from doing what he wanted, so wrapped things up a lot earlier than I would have. And then he took the bottle of wine I'd bought to the party with him. I don't drink - I took it as my contribution to the evening since he was cooking, but it just seems a bit off. Like, 'thanks for the booze, now piss off while I bring it to a party you're not invited to.'

It is chromosomally specific and it hits hard.

On another note I wonder how many relationships have been ruined by those rubbish "Type your name and your partners and find out if you are compatible" Jamster things which gullible people may believe are actually valid reasons to dump people. Why are they allowed to sell them?

Only by 14-year-olds with too much pocket money or people who are so idiotic that the death of their relationship is a cause for rejoicing because God help us if they breed...

Is this that same friend you were on about a few months ago who made you leave a party and was then supposed to come and meet you in a club but buggered off elsewhere?

The thing is that there are some good cyclists out there just they appear to be few and far between much like good motorcyclists.

That'll be me!! Lit up like a Christmas Tree at night with hi-viz clothing (I want to physically pull people off their bikes and give them a slap when I see them without lights and in dark clothing), stop at red lights and won't cycle on a pavement!

Problem I have is pedestrians wandering in to and standing in the separate cycle lane (separate from the road as well but next to the pavement). I shout a lot when I cycle to work

I came within an inch of being knocked off my bike a few days ago when some wanker in a Merc couldn't wait 5 seconds for me to cross the roundabout but went round me and then cut across to go left as I was going straight on. To top it off a new driver (had one of those P signs on) just pulled out of a road and she didn't even look my way as she pulled out and I had to swerve.

Don't get me wrong I agree there are shit cyclists as well as shit drivers and unfortunately it is those that give us good 'uns a bad name

Just been to the doctors for a second appointment. Been coughing for a fortnight now. Had an appointment a week last Monday where the doc said it was a viral infection and to rest. Which I did. I rest really well. I am a boss at resting. I watched the entirety of Lie To Me, that's how well I rested. But it didn't improve.

So I just got back and now I have a bacterial chest infection and have lots and lots of drugs. But it's ridiculously busy at the moment at work so I'm here, but they're telling me to take it easy, but I have loads to do that nobody else can do. GAH. And I'm going to miss the Advent service on Sunday which is where I allow myself to start to feel festive...

UGH.

Not pissed off, but can't think of anyhwre else to put this. My wife had to stay overnight in hospital last night (and likely will tonight). I've never slept by myself in my own house before.

It was strange.

I find this a particular bug bear when driving. I want to stop their car and ask them why they are driving a car that is broken and shouldn't be on the road. When they respond there is nothing wrong with the car I want to shout in their face WELL USE YOUR FUCKING INDICATORS THEN!! Does get me really riled.

I was walking along on the righthand pavement of a road, and looked to cross a side street in front of me. (if you were driving it would be a right hand turn into this sidestreet.) A car was driving along the road as I was about to cross. I turned, saw he wasn't indicating, and continued to cross the sidestreet. About a third across the road I realised the car wasn't driving on, turned, and noticed he had stopped and THEN put his indicators on and was waiting for me to cross the road. I just shook my head at him and continued to hobble over the road. Idiot.

You will never have more of a chance to watch shitloads of pornography nature documentaries than you will right now.

Aye, she's grand, cheers. Dehydrated and exhausted. Combination of fibromyalgia and underactive thyroid.

And I've got plenty of nature docs lined up. Probably only watch the first 5 minutes though.
