I'm not exactly pissed off about it, but film snobbery on message boards tends to stick in my craw a little.

Sorry for the off-topic post, mods. Yet again I fail as a member of Empire. : (

Anyone else got this awful, shitty cough? I've had it all week. Everytime I cough I feel like I'm in the throes of an exorcism. Am not amused.

Not a cough but a shitty cold   Woke up Saturday morning with it and it's been getting worse since.  Seems like everyone has got some form of illness at the moment....

Hate to sound ominous but this cough started with a cold that came and went, and then the cough hit when we weren't expecting. All three of my boys have it, including my youngest who's seven months. Although everytime he coughs he also farts which still never fails to amuse me.

Got a puncture on my bike on Friday. Fixed it on Sunday and was putting the tyre and tube back on the wheel and I popped the inner tube (I was using two knives as tyre levers....) and no patches left. Picked up a new inner tube last night and was fitting it and done exactly the same thing. Things got thrown in the garage.

Not that I've done it for a while, but don't you normally use spoons to pop the tyre, not knives?

Because my boss is the laziest, uninterested, fuckin fuckwit I've ever met!!!!!! I've got a list of jobs that require his attention, paper work that needs looking at
I've been in for almost 2hrs now and for all he knows I could be at home with my feet up. I'm an electrician, I could be hurt or worse somewhere.
"Pissed off" doesn't do my mood justice

If it's the thread I'm thinking of, that guy is one of the most obvious trolls I've ever seen at this place. Check out his post history, that's all he does is "This film is fucking shit and you're a braindead wanker if you like it!" or "This film is fucking brilliant and if you didn't like it then you're a fucking idiot!"

If you could raise a ticket or point us in the right direction, we'd be happy to look into it.

Just sent you a pm with some links though.

Most damning criticism of your taste in cinema yet. You put so many bad films in your top 100 that Google Chrome finds it unsafe to view.

EDIT: That was the opposite of pissing me off. So I'll be pissed off about the fact that someone who I thought might have been able to offer me a job says he has nothing going at the moment

Well done

Can any brave Mods with the ability to remove the offending image (I think that's what it is), go and have a look?

There's nothing wrong with the thread I'm afraid it's Google Chrome - there are complaints about it in Empire Online as well, as if they think Empire should change the site because the web browser is the problem!

I've never tried Chrome, every time I tried downloading it refused to load properly, does it actually block the site or does it just give you a warning you can choose to ignore?

A warning. But last time I didn't ignore it everything went wrong

I occasionally get a false report on Empire but it doesn't last long. Chrome seems to be having a major prob right now.

I use Chrome at home and have never had problems

Having said that, the majority of my browsing at home these days is on the iPad so when I have used Chrome on the PC maybe I have been lucky

Time to get a proper bicycle repair kit Chief?

Yes.

Not that I've done it for a while, but don't you normally use spoons to pop the tyre, not knives?

All my cutlery has round handles, hence using the blade of the knife. I've took the huff with my bike (definitely the bike's fault) and walked to work today.

Edit: In fact, the bike shares the blame with my daughter for trying to talk to me while I was doing it, my wife for just sitting on the couch and offering me no moral support whatsoever and other inanimate objects that were around at the time and giving off bad vibes.

The rats that live under our building seem to have moved in to our bathroom wall for the winter. I tried banging on the wall to scare them off, but just hurt my hand in the process.

I can't get gifs to play either in Chrome now. All the animated avs freeze after a few frames.

I was having the same problem up until last night after I installed an update to Chrome I just clicked on the toolbar (?) icon in the top right corner.

I sometimes get that gif thing with Chrome, but they usually play if I leave them for a few seconds (or I lose patience and change tabs).

My biggest irritant at the moment is if I highlight a word that I've typed into an input box (like this reply, or a search bar) and select "Search With Google," it opens Safari instead of just opening another Chrome tab.

That might not sound like much but when you expect something to work a certain way and it doesn't, no matter what you're doing or what walk of life, it's irritating

Anyone else get annoyed when people split hairs? I've just remembered a conversation I had about car parks ages ago, where someone was saying how they can never find a parking space at a certain time of day, and they asked my opinion.

I said there was another car park in some other direction that always had a few spaces free, and was fairly close to the others in the area (also 10p cheaper all day than the others).

"But that's not a council run car park!!!!"

For starters they never specified they wanted council run car parks, and second if you can't find a space in these council run car parks or anywhere else, just take what you can get.

If it was a rough area I might think they were just being conscious about their car's safety, but knowing the individual as I do I suspect it was more a case of "Must-Have-An-Answer-For-Everything."

Felt like shit at work so I left early, only for all trains to be cancelled or delayed at Gatwick due to a fatality, so I'm standing in a pub instead. This would be fun on any other day other than today.

More mildly annoyed than pissed off.

Was in the sitting room with flatmate watching tv together, and it hits 9pm and he asks whether I'm going to stay or go. This was in reference to the Channel 4 programme about the controlled plane crash. I'm beyond terrified of flying, so there's absolutely no way I was going to be watching it. So instead of asking if I minded him watching it, since we're both watching t.v, he just makes it clear I have no choice in that channel being watched.

The thing that frustrates me about it is that I'm really fucking considerate towards him, probably more than I should be.

For example he usually always sits on the big couch while I sit on one of the armchairs, so today after lying on the couch all day watching films, I made sure I was cleared off the couch, films finished and just normal t.v on when he got back in from work. No, he doesn't ask me to do that, but I don't think it's fair if he has to come in and watch the end half of a film he's not interested in. I also never, ever ask to watch something on t.v if he's watching a football match (which is about 90% of the time), I just let him get on with it.

So it would have been nice to have a, 'I'm thinking about watching this, do you mind?' rather than a 'are you going to stay or go?'

A long story cut short.

11am I dropped my Iphone. The screen broke
11.15am Apple shop "Yes Sir, bring it in and we can give you a new one/fix it for you"
12.30pm I arrive at Apple shop. "Hello Sir, you need to book to see us, next available time is 3.25pm, but you need to go home and "back-up" your Iphone first" Cue some mild swearing.
3.15pm. Me "Hello Apple shop, I wont get there in time as my phone is taking ages to back up. When is your next available time" Apple shop "Monday morning at 10am" Cue some slightly stronger swearing.
6.00pm I arrive at Apple shop. Explain that wild horses won't drag me out until I've got a new phone. I dot the rant with a few words they've probably not heard before.
7.40pm They see the light. I walk out with a new phone.
10.00pm Finally give up trying to find my contacts and photos that supposedly "backed up" onto my home PC. Admit defeat. Get annoyed with the wife when she tells me to "put them in a cloud next time" or whatever the fuck that means.

So basically I've lost 700 contacts (which to be fair I can get back slowly), and more importantly, 300 photos, some of my Mum who I lost last year, from my phone. They are not completely lost as I stuck most of them on my works PC months ago, but so far my IT guys have failed to put them back on my new phone.
It has made me sad for 3 days. Upset over a broken phone.
I never thought I'd see the day.
