I've been feeling shit all week. I have a really bad cold - not the worst of all the ailments, I know, but I've felt really fucking rotten with it. And despite having next to no hearing left, and struggling to speak without coughing every two seconds, and feeling pretty out of breath simply by lifting a finger, I've gone into work all week instead of calling in sick. I've come straight home from work at 6pm every night and gone straight into bed, fallen asleep by 9pm and repeated the whole process the following day. I've not called in sick because the one and only other time I've called in sick to my work (before Christmas last year), I got a row for it the following day. Which I'm still pretty bitter about, because the people at my work royally take the piss with not showing up for shifts or calling in sick whenever they please. In terms of staff, I'm one of the few totally reliable ones. Never late, never causing problems trying to change my shifts round, and with a couple of rare exceptions I'm never off ill. I'm not expecting a thanks for this, I would just hope that it goes noticed by the manager. And yet yesterday I got pulled up on something that the 2 previous people who did the role I'm currently doing in my work never got pulled up on. So I'm pretty fucked off. People properly take the piss everyday in work and never, ever get called up on it. So I'm going in this morning to tie up stuff for the weekend, then I'm telling them I'm going home at lunch.
