Totally agree with these.  T Rex never seem to get as much recognition as they deserve.

100% agree with this.  I'm astounded at all the praise she gets.  She's bloody awful and the cover of Run is an insult to Snow Patrol.  And I don't even like Snow Patrol.

I don't know how unpopular this is but I despise Mark Ronson. Adding trumpets to a song does not make you a producer!

I also love Babyshambles.

While I disagree to the nth degree, I have to admit that there would be a hell of a lot of people that would agree with you if they could get past his "name".  Just out of interest, which are the 3 albums?

Good call on Prince, even if he is being a bit of a nutcase with his fansites at the moment.

I don't see a problem with him.  I've got both albums and they're brilliant.  FutureSex/LoveSounds is a really dynamic change in direction, plus he puts on a superb live show apparently.

-The B52's were a really good band
-Johnny Cash's best work were the american recordings released just before he died
-Prine has more talent in his little finger than a hell of a lot of people
- I quite like Pablo Honey
- Klaxons are just terriable
- I really really like Young Americans (the album), I also quite like never let me down by Bowiem despite it getting slated everywhere
-despite loving the beatles I can't stand the song the long and winding road

There will be more I am sure.

How can you say that about Oasis...they inspired one of the highest regarded bands ever...the Beatles.

Anyway, my unpopular opinion is....there arent enough Prog Rock bands around today.

I don't understand what the hell Mark Ronson actually does.  He doesn't write the songs.  He doesn't sing the songs.  Hopefully he plays some of the instruments, but to be honest I'm sure there's a million 14 year olds up and down the country that can play other peoples' tunes all day.

And to cap it all off he gets ridiculous fawning ads calling him a genius all the time.

What a cunt.

Most of the things on this thread are not 'unpopular'.  They're slightly off from mainstream opinion, at best.  I mean 'Oasis are shit'?  That's pretty much accepted wisdom nowadays.

Gary Glitter is due for a re-appraisal, that would be an unpopular opinion.  Or Wings were better than the Beatles.

I don't believe either of those btw.  I do think Girls Aloud have produced at least 6 works of genius and that might attract some tittering, but I would stand by it.

Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Aladin Sane. I appriciate Low and bit of Heroes, so I think he did come close to bouncing back, its just I can never connect with the stuff between Aladin Sane and Low more than the odd single.

Whilst I don't think they're up there with the late-'60s/early '70s stuff Bowie did, I would argue that Heathen and Reality are both good albums by anyone else's standards.

Pink Floyd are dull.

A Silver Mount Zion and Godspeed You Black Emperor! are the greatest bands right now, alongside Muse.

The majority of techno/electro/trans/hard techno/dance/rave is quite frankly a boring set of electronic sounds. The ones that are re-mixes of other songs are particularly unbearable, and lack anything close to imagination. When this genre of music is good though, it can be amazing.

Godspeed have been on an hiatus for something like five years now. I don't think they're considered a band anymore, all the members are off doing other stuff.

Agree about Pink Floyd. Never been able to get into their stuff. Anything that isn't dull is a bit cheesy.

I must admit I've never been quite able to get into Pink Floyd. I quite like Piper.. but other than that, not every really connected with it.

The Kinks are the second best band to come out of the 60s. Better than the Stones, Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, and better than the Who.

Oh The Beatles without question, but I assume thats a pretty popular view. The Kinks are the only ones - other than Dylan who isn't really a band - who can really make a stab at The Beatles for me.

YAY! I was hoping you would say that. yeah, I am really getting into the kinks of late, thanks to mr wes anderson. Before only had village green preservation, now I have got that, something else, and face to face, and wish to collect more. great band!
But the Beatles will always be my fav

Ok, here goes...this will probably be the most unpopular opinion yet, so I shall prepare for the backlash.

> McFly are a genuinely talented band who write great songs and play incredibly live. They have done more for British music than any other group of the last decade.

There, I said it.

I do love me some McFly.

Also, I agree with whoever mentioned A-ha. The Living Daylights is one of my favourite songs EVER.

The music of Johnny Cash is 99% country drivel.  Whilst Ring of Fire is catchy, it's catchy in the same way that the Crazy Frog was catchy ie "I FUCKING HATE IT BUT CAN'T STOP HUMMING IT".

He did a good version of Hurt, but a well-written song sounds decent whoever does it, and his version only really has the impact it does because of the admittedly excellent and poignant video.

But since Walk The Line came out it seems everyone's very keen to drone about loving Cash, but face it everybody, it's shit!

Same goes for Frank Sinatra.  Most people seem to have a "Best of Frankie" CD they bought for 3 in Fopp whilst a student, but never listen to it as, guess what, it's wank.  And you don't fucking like it so stop pretending to because it's cool!!
