Not a remake, or a reboot but a sequel to the classic series.

It's going to start life as a TV movie and if it's a success, a series will follow. Much like Battlestar Galactica.

In the new version, Justin Bruening will star as the estranged son of Michael Knight, Mike Tracer. Deanna Russo will play Tracer's one-time girlfriend and love interest, Sarah Graiman. Bruce Davison will co-star as her father, physicist Charles Graiman. Wayne Kasserman co-stars as Mike's roommate and friend.

KITT will be portrayed as a black 550 HP Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang, after Ford was signed as a major sponser of the new show. Variety reports that Transformers inspired Ben Silverman's decision to revive Knight Rider because smallscreen effects are sophisticated enough to have a weekly series with shape shifting cars (though the 1990s series Viper, heavily influenced by Knight Rider, shared the same concept) - that's right, KITT will change shape.

Good news, the Hoff will be in it as Michael Knight - the same character from the original - he's already shot scenes with his onscreen son and the new KITT is being voiced by Will Arnett.

Turbo boost!

That's very cool.   Particularly like the sequel, not remake, approach.  Don't like the car much though.

Looks like it could be ok... I guess...

Wasn't keen on KITTS voice. And you can't beat the old car, although I fully understand the need for change. Wonder whne you'll get it in the uk.

I have to admit the new voice isn't a patch on William Daniels in the origninal and the beefy muscle car look lacks the sleek charm of the origninal as well but could be worse and I'll give it a couple of episodes to decide.

Love this comment on the link

'the new KITT has high speed internet? I can see it now, KITT's being chased by the bad guys and Michael doesn't give a damn because he's busy looking at porn.'

Guess it should be torrentable by tuesday, will give it a look.

Watched it and enjoyed it for what it was. 1h20m of pure mature stilton.

You have to admit that Val Kilmer does a good computer voice though

It was very '80s wasn't it?

I still can't get my head around Kilmer doing the voice!

It was indeed. I might go so far as say it could be a real guilty pleasure for a lot of people. Me included.

So, it's nothing more than an 80's-esque piece of cheese that can only be watched as a guilty pleasure?

I can't frickin' wait!

I enjoyed that. Good old fashioned fun. Bit long-winded, but a good set-up for a series. Val Kilmer was great as KITT although they could have used him a bit more. More please!

Did ok in the ratings, though- averaged 12.7m in the time slot. Apparently it's the best rated tv movie on NBC since 2005. Of course, how many of those would return to a series, though?

It was pretty decent, major cheese fest, Kilmer was great as Kitt once you got used to it, though the villain was kinda bland.

Yeah the pilot was very cheesy, but at the same time sort of enjoyable. Its full of cliches, cheesy dialogue. When it tries to be fresh and modern, it makes me laugh (gay detective!).

When the bad guy is English....its a case of  "Oh well here we go again!"

But it was ok overall...I liked the ending with the special guest.

I liked it. Sure it was cheesy but any pilot that has a lesbian FBI detective who's into surfing and one night stands gets my vote.

But seriously, it was good fun - the new Michael Knight seemed charming enough, the new KITT is growing on me and it could be good cheesy joyness.

I thoroughly enjoyed it!
It held pretty true to how the show was in the 80's and it was great to see The Hoff briefly return as Michael Knight.

The car is awesome and I love the fact that this once can morph.

Ending was class too - you totally expect KITT to roll out of the back of a lorry, but no it's a freaking Hercules!!

Let's have a full season please....

Was The Hoff looking a little bit....plastic or was it just me. Has he had work done?

Blimey, did they pick people off the street to act in this?! Awful stuff.

But strangely enjoyable too. They managed to get the 'awful but fun' tone of the original series perfectly!!

They use the same intro  for theme but just when you expect a ncie revamped version it segues into some nondescript rubbish.

I just watched the pilot and it was enjoyable enough rubbish might check out another couple of eps but I'm not sure that I'll stick with it.
