Hi, just wondering if there'll be follow up orgins films for the other characters like magneto, jean grey and storm? Anyone know?

i guess it all comes down to how much money wolverine makes. the title of ''xmen origins'' preceeding wolverine certainly suggests this. magneto is in the pipeline, and vinnie jones rather worryingly claimed that one based on juggernaut may be going straight to dvd.

Like the TV spots - looks like Creed and Logan are half brothers in this film, taking some of the Origins story and replacing Dog with Creed. Be interested to see how that will work out.

Btw - what the eff is young Cyclops doing in this?!

Early speculation is that he is Weapon XI and what Stryker has been "creating" by having his team (Logan, Creed, Deadpool etc) kidnap and imprison other mutants so Stryker can experiment on and clone their powers or some shit. Looks like Logan finds out about the kidnap/experimentation and goes rogue which leads to the rest of the team (led by Creed I guess) hunting him down. No doubt he then returns to bust out the other mutant prisoners and discovers what Stryker has been building, takes on Weapon XI and saves the day. Hooray!

Another possible is that it is actually what Deadpool eventually becomes - I think Latino Review had a story which showed some Wolverine toys including the multiple powered guy (red trousers, bleached skin, weird red markings on chest and face) but I'm sure it was marked up as being a Deadpool action figure.

Anyway - some things I want to know about this in relation to the X-Men films considering this is supposed to be an actual prequel and not some sort of reboot:

1. Is the Creed in this film and Sabertooth in X-Men the same person? If so, how does he transition to Sabertooth and why doesn't he recognise Logan at all?

2. Again - if Creed and Sabertooth are one and the same how come neither he or Cyclops recognise each other at all in X-Men?

3. Does Logan get his memory wiped at the end of this? Or is that being left for another potential Wolverine prequel?

I think I'd read that Origins version of Sabretooth/Creed (as played by Schrieber) is never referred to as Sabretooth, only as Creed. This was to allow the Sabretooth character in the original Singer X Men movie to remain as 'Sabretooth'. I guess they're kinda suggesting they're similar mutants, but not the same. But yea, in Origins, the name Sabretooth won't be used, or so I'm led to beleive.

1. Hard to say but did he take Wolverine dogtag in X men and was wearing it. Might be a hint he does remember or know something.

2. Cyclops doesn't appear to be a guy who goes 'I know you, you kicked my ass at high school.'

It had better be a hell of an improvement over X3.

Ghidorah, good point by the way about Cyclops and Creed but I would still think there should have been something mentioned - just a line. Same thing with Cyclops and Wolverine - in the new trailer it's clear that Cyclops is one of the mutants Wolvie busts out of Stryker's lab/prison but again Cyclops doesn't recognise him or mention anything about it to anyone in X-Men. I know they're small points to moan about but ever since Star Wars I'm edgy about prequels that don't fit with the original films.

Then again I wouldn't be too surprised if a lot is left totally unexplained considering retconning is all the rage and the X-Men comics chronology has become so warped over the years.

I think Cyclops is captured by Stryker, there's a shot in the new trailer where he's blasting (close up) and the next shot shows a Cyclops style energy beam ripping across some of what looks like the Weapon X set. This happens after the hallway chase with Creed in the trailer which presumably ends with Cyclops' capture.
As for Storm (if that is definitely her of course), her being outside could very well be during the prison break - after all some of them are bound to actually get out.
Although none of this is very clear so I could be wrong, just matching up what's been shown against some stuff leaked via Empire's set report last year.

Well it's the new one. Prior to this there was one official, one leaked from some convention (which is very similar to the first official anyway) and 3 TV spots (Outcasts, Brothers and Legends I think).

The new does make it look pretty ace, not that much new in terms of story (apart from the inclusion of 1 character I don't think has been seen in the previous trailers) but some expansion of the action scenes glimpsed before.

Still don't like the inclusion of Cyclops or Storm on general principle but we'll see how it works out in a couple of months.

Watched the trailer and it looks very cool. Wonder why Empire hasn't put it up on the site yet? I take it back - Cyclops is definately a character :) Not sure how they are going to make it canon with the other films, but as long as he is given a bigger and less wussy role than 'Jean's Boyfriend' as he was reduced to in the other X films then I dont mind if they switch it up a bit. :D

Sounds plausible but seems to be missing a few important details.

1. No mention of the fight between Creed and Logan at Weapon X after he's had the adamantium procedure. That's been all over the trailers and is clearly a different battle than them fighting behind what looks like a bar (assume that would be the rumble mentioned in the synopsis after Creed kills Silver Fox).

2. In the trailers Wolverine is cradling a dead/hurt/dying Silver Fox in 2 different locations - once in the woods and a 2nd time on a beach/waters edge. Plus screenshots have shown that she is with him during the mutant jailbreak so whats with that?

3. The helicopter scenes show Agent Zero in the chopper (no mention of that set piece in this synopsis either) so at some point Stryker must be going after Logan and this is post adamantium as well considering he trashes a jeep with his claws in the same scenes.

I can understand that the writer probably wanted to leave some spoilers out but considering the others he drops in I'm surprised he hasn't commented on what look to be 2 big set pieces that have been all over the trailers so it would hardly be a spoiler to say "oh yeah, Stryker hunts Wolverine down and he takes on Agent Zero in a chopper" or "Creed and Wolverine have a rematch in Weapon X while the mutants escape".

Frankly I'm calling this a fake - he's mashed together the plot details floating around a couple of years ago before the project was officially announced with bits of the trailers he's seen but there are big holes in what he's written. The Deadpool thing has been mentioned before elsewhere too so that isn't actually new information either.

Pretty much the same plot and scenes as the other story we were discussing above and it's from the same website too. It may be real but I'm still not convinced because of the same points I mentioned above.
Still - 2 months to go so we'll find out soon enough.

I think it may play like this...

Storm has been cut out of the final movie but apparently appeared in a scene set in Africa where Wolverine and his team are on some kind of mission (see the video game) earlier in the move where Logan has bone claws.

Cyclops probably gets his memory wiped by either the Weapons Plus / Ten programme or Charles Xavier. Do you recon Logan may find this place in Westchester County at the end of the movie where he can drop off the rescued mutants to be taken care of? It wouldn't surprise me if Xavier's school if not the man himself made an appearance here.

In regards to Sabretooth, I think it probably IS Victor Creed but Stryker fucks about with his DNA or something, making him more of a mindless feral animal. We may see a blonder more feral Liev by the end of the movie with those blacked out eyes. This may be why Sabretooth doesn't fully click in X-Men. He does actually look at Wolverine funny as if to say "Don't I know you?" in that first movie though. And Magneto and Xavier hint that they may actually know of Wolverine in X2 before he showed up at the mansion. As if he was some kind of urban legend or something. They obviously know Stryker very well, too.

I think Gambit may be doing work for Stryker like he was for Sinister in the comics. Finding and supplying mutant names and stealing files etc... This could be why Logan is after him in New Orleans. Info. A paper trail etc.

I doubt the guy with all the powers is Deadpool. Although Deadpool's healing factor IS replicated from Wolverine's in the comics. This guy looks and sounds more like Weapon 11 (XI).

I'd been thinking some similar things - my biggest concern about this fitting into the continuity of the X-Men trilogy was Logan/Cyclops/Creed memory issues and had wondered if Sabretooth in X-Men would be linked into this or if Creed was being kept as a separate character in the films altogether.

I'd originally heard that the multiple powered guy was Weapon XI and not Deadpool but I can believe that it is him if the "review" linked above is accurate.

Its Fox though isnt it.... these are the people who cancelled Firefly! There no telling what depths of insanity theyll sink to. Admittedly we havent seen the film, and shouldnt jump the gun. But I agree with you, taking a character so well developed and beloved (by everyone in San Diego) and completely bastardising him..... just shows they dont care. Fuck you, 20th Century Fox, you continue to make stupid decisions and wreck good ideas. We can only pray that Marvel gets its hand back on the X-men, Daredevil, Fantastic Four and Deadpool licsenses..... a big ask.

It's a very big ask - Fox are alledgedly trying to reboot Daredevil and The Fantastic Four because if they don't make the movies in a certain period of time the rights revert back to Marvel and Fox potentially lose their cash cows. Frankly I'm surprised they're bothering considering the critical pasting & average box office the FF movies got, plus Daredevil was hardly a hit either critically or commercially.

But because the X-Men franchise has been a big earner for them I expect we'll see another Wolverine solo movie (if this one's a hit), that oft rumoured Magneto spin-off and the wanky OC sounding X-Men: First Class film from Fox. However this could all be good news if Fox don't keep interfering with the productions or rushing them out despite numerous creative problems like X-Men: The Last Stand. Bluuuurgh

Here they come now,
I've just been reading some of the shite on the IMDB boards regarding this flick, and one thing in particular bugged me immsensely and that is that the Weapon XI villian's story arc in the film will infact be Deadpool's origin story, I was hoping it was all a mistake, but then on the boards there was a link to Ryan Reynolds confirming the fact, and then I come on here and read pretty much the same thing a few posts above mine.
I'm not pissed because I'm some big assed geek getting angry that they're messing up a character, I'm gutted because I was hoping Scott Adkins would get a fairly juicy role as Weapon XI, but with this now confirmed it would seem that he is just in the film as Reynold's stunt double, doing all the flashy martial arts shit Reynolds would have no hope of doing.
And incase you're unaware, Scott Adkins is a fooking fantastic martial artist who just happens to be not too bad an actor, he's starred in some straight to DVD stuff but I was hoping this role would give him a little more recognition.
