Yes, the sister is Summer, she is married to Casey Affleck

Is she, BeGod. Well, you learn something new every day.

Yep, that's right. There's 5 Phoenix siblings - River, Rain (who is Josh Hartnett's girlfriend in O), Joaquin, Summer and Liberty (who doesn't act). Talented family.

It sounds cool until you hear of some of the things the children were encouraged to do in the commune    the Children of God cult was an extremely dodgy place advocating the sexualisation of children and adult child sexual contact (although they have apparently cleaned up their act a bit since the late 80's).  Apparenty River Phoeneix was encouraged into sexual activity with other children when he was about five years old.  If that doesn't mess with your head I don't know what will.

Yeah that's true. Children of God were and still are complete perverts. Apparently River Phoenix lost his virginity at age 4 but he said it wasn't true. The family got out of the cult pretty damn quick after all their kids were born. (Yep, I'm a bit of a Phoenix fangirl.)
Sticking to the topic, both River and Rain Phoenix have cameos in Even Cowgirls Get The Blues.

Just been watching Braveheart, and.....

Apart from the cast members you know, Mel Gibson, Brendan Gleeson, Brian Cox, James Cosmo, etc, from a little IMDb'ing, I found out that William Wallace's wife, Murron McClanough, is the Alice, the mum and spreader of the new strain of infection in 28 Weeks Later.

Also, Stephen, the crazy Irish guy ("My island!") is Fitzy ("you're a cop") in The Departed!

I don't think this has been mentioned, but in Scream 2, the film-within-a-film's killer is played by Luke Wilson.

Heather Graham's in it too, playing Casey Becker at the beginning of Stab.

Crispin Glover pops up in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter [as is Corey Feldman, who's also in Part V for a cameo], while Kelly Hu has a minor role in F13 Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.

The little kid in 80's horror 'classic'

was none other than a teeney-weeney Stephen Dorff.

The pretty girl Elliot kisses in E.T. would grow up to become Baywatch's first babe, Erika Eleniak (She was also Seagal's totty in Under Siege).

I was on fastrewind.com earlier today.

According to them, Vasquez of Aliens fame is also John Connor's foster mum in Terminator 2! And she is in Titanic too!

Also Benicio Del Toro is a soldier in Commando apparently!

I might be mistaken, but I think John Leguizamo is too.

The Wire is surely the best TV show ever broadcast in America. This claim isn't based on my having seen all the possible rivals for the title, but on the premise that no other program has ever done anything remotely like what this one does, namely to portray the social, political, and economic life of an American city with the scope, observational precision, and moral vision of great literature.

The Wire has never won an emmy? [It] deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!

Jenette Goldstein, the Third Class Irish mother to the 2 little kids in Titanic,  also had supporting roles in Lethal Weapon 2 as one of the cops and was the science officer on the Enterprise-B at the start of Star Trek: Generations.  She sure does get around when you don't notice it - and given the immortality of Vasquez it surprises even me!

He's the intern buddy who wears glasses - the hair's more of a bush then floppy, judging by Youtube. I still can't believe he was in it!

I did not know that, bloody hell. Just saw the clip on youtube, that is some 'do. He was in an episode of Buffy's second season (Go Fish) but he was shaven headed in it.

Don't forget his standout turn as a bully in The Neverending Story III, that always surprises me.

I always forget him (and Seth Green) in Enemy Of The State until he pops up as well.
