There's a young Viggo Mortenson in Witness, keep an eye out for him during the barn building scene. He's friend to Alexander Godunovs character, better known as Karl in Die Hard.

Cpt Dale Dye: In every war film post-Platoon. Hell, he even crops up in Mission Impossible and Outbreak. Before we knew who he was, my brothers and I called him 'Military Guy' due to his parts in Wings Of The Apache, Saving Private Ryan, JFK and Under Seige.

On a similar note, Saving Private Ryan has Bryan Cranston (Hal from Malcolm In The Middle) in it as a corporal that convinces the general to sent a unit to find Private Ryan and Nathan Fillion (Firefly) is the 'other Private Ryan'. The crying one.

Funnily enough, I don't know why but I'm always suprised to see both Paul Giamatti and Ted Danson pop up in that film too!

Was that Paul Giamatti in The Abyss, or did I imagine that?

No, they used computer graphics for the water effects.

I bought one of my childhood faves, Silent Running recently, and after a few mins of "ooh, ahh, who's that dammit?" I realised it was Ron Rifkin from LA Confidential and  Alias, and bloody hell he looked young in it!  Regrettably can't find a pic of him in it...

Is that the flashback scenes? Wasn't Emily Booth in that...naked? If so the man is indeed a lucky sod. Any idea what was done to his character in the movie?

No idea, I'm sure he was probably only on screen for a second or two.

He also did a commentary on the Once Upon A Time in The West DVD.

Anyone know  if a tubby Jake Gyllenhal is the kid that Sam Neill chastises at the start of Jusrassic Park with the raptor claw? I'd research it myself but i'm a bone idle git.

Ben Affleck is in the original movie of Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Not a movie but I always seem to surprised to see Simon Pegg in Band of Brothers.

Can't remember the title, but a very young Sir Michael Caine and Oliver Reed appear together as sailors in a Norman Wisdom film. *EDIT* I've just checked, and the film was The Bulldog Breed. It was, in fact, the only time these two titans have ever shared the screen...

Also look out for Jeff Goldblum as a hoodlum (!) in Death Wish.

Obviously, everyone knows about Rik "Remember the Alamo!" Mayall in An American Werewolf in London.

Blink and you'll miss her - Renee Zellweger in Dazed & Confused

For anyone who knows anything about Spanish cinema, the young Conan the Barbarian was played by none other than Jorge Sanz.

Kasm, sorry you were let down on Jurassic Park, but you might be pleased to discover that Jake Gyllenhal (sp?) is Billy Crystal's kid in City Slickers.

Haley Joel Osment is Forrest Gump Jr.

A gap-toothed Ben Stiller competes with Christian Bale for Malkovich's blessing in Empire of The Sun.

Sir Richard Attenborough plays a corpse (sort of) in A Matter Of Life And Death.

Richard Dreyfuss being an annoying little shit in The Graduate. No change there, then...

It's a fairly well-known one: Samuel L. Jackson getting his ass whupped with a mop in Coming To America

I tried to start a thread about this, but a mod closed it an pointed me here. Not really the same thread, but never mind...

Anyway, what it was saying was that when you're watching a film you've seen loads of times before, there's always someone in it that you forget. I always forget that Samuel L Jackson is in Jurassic Park and Goodfellas. And I always forget that Harrison Ford is in Apocalypse Now. Anyone know what I mean?

As an avid fan of Emmerdale I can't believe I didn't notice this before, but Woody from This Is England is none other than Eli Dingle! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0318543/

I've a feeling supping a pint in't Woolpack doesn't quite compare to working with Shane Meadows.
