Does The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions discs come with the extras that were on them when they were double-disc Special Editions?  I'm planning on buying this but I'm not sure if these new discs come with the same extras.

The one in the HMV offer is a pretty barebones release. The Ultimate Matrix Collection contains two disc versions of all the films, and additional discs devoted to special features. It's obviously more expensive, but you should be able to find it for around 20.

That's still a pretty good price (for HMV especially)

The other day when HMVs deal of the day was the Matrix Trilogy, I did a quick search for the 10-disc box set and they had it up for 14.99!
Needless to say I snapped up a copy.
But I just checked and its back up to 59.99! WTF?!?!?
They better send me my copy for the GOOD price! lol

I got my Ultimate Matrix collection for 14.99 in Virgin about 18 months ago. Keep an eye out for it in HMV and Virgin sales.....it often drops below the 20 mark.

The Ultimate Matrix Collection is the stupidly big one with 10 disks and more extra features than you could ever hope for:

The American version has all the features. The UK version is only the movie discs (though these do have the features from disc 2,4,6 from the DVD). It's missing The Animatrix and two discs of extras.

To be honest I don't think the Blu-rays are that much of an upgrade from DVD. This was at a time when Warner didn't utilize the full size of a BR because they were releasing films on both the smaller sized HD-DVD and Blu-ray.

I'm sure the films would look much better if they were redone today.

I've heard that the sound mix on the first movie is a lot better on Blu Ray. You can actually hear the conversation with Trinity in the nightclub... that's something that always bothered me on the DVD.

excellent picture/sound on 'the matrix' BDs and at a decent price too.

the BD set has the 1-6 dvds from that boxset with extras now on 3 BD discs.

also with an excellent in movie cast/crew commentary on each disc.

'animatrix' sold as a solo BD disc.

So I've already got the 10 disc collection on DVD, but the Matrix films are ones I'd like to see on Blu-Ray, I've got about 130 credit at CEX and can pick up the Blu-Ray collection for 12 of said credit, is it worth getting it knowing I'm going to keep the DVD collection as well?

The transfer of the first movie is decent as I recall ... but it's not like your losing out at that much for the trilogy discs.

Consider it bought, the Blu-Ray collection is getting a lot bigger, and hoping to pick up a couple of rare DVDs too, tomorrow will be a good day.

I never considered buying the collection, as I only liked the first film but not the sequels. I have the first two Matrix films on DVD though. Although I have to say I liked the look of the Neo statue, that I think I noticed in a store once which came with the box set collection.
