Seriously? I can't imagine how that would feel, especially this time of year. Did they get much?
God, all our children's presents are at my in-laws, I'd be devastated if anyone broke in.

My thoughts are with you, funky.

They managed to get about 2,000 worth of jewelry.  In a weird way that's better as it wasn't the sentimental stuff that went.  Thankfully they didn't take the laptop as that's got the last part of my mum's trilogy on there.  Last thing she needs is to lose that.  Oh, and give your PMs a quick check wouldya Homer?

hurrah! Christmas decorations are now up and I must say it all looks very nice. My arms are killing me from threading 160 fairy lights onto garland, but hell - it was worth it! Also as Jacob has a our old 3ft fibre optic tree in his room, we ventured out today I bought Tegan a really cool little pink one for her room. All looks very nice indeed!
Also decorated while listening to the christmas album - tee hee!

Ha!  You can't see the ones on the top shelf or the amount that are stashed in the cupboard underneath.

Hurrah!

We have a few already. Finally got working lights for our garland. I get the garland up, and Pixie checks the lights - working - and threads them painstakingly through the garland. We stand back, flick the switch. Nothing. Tried changing the fuse, the fuse-light. Nothing. Got some new ones today which work, and look beautiful. we just have the tree, two garlands on one wall (lit) and one on the opposing wall (unlit, as by tree). Then we have two dangly thingies, and some red holly lights (the lights look like the berries, and they have leaves) for the window, and a wreath for the front door. That's it, aside from a few little ornaments and the card holders, and our posh wooden advent calendar which is kinda doubling as a nativity scene. It's festive, yet tasteful, and I love it.

For years we did the whole stretchy 'break every year' sort of streamers that concertina out, but got sick of a) having to buy every year, b) getting frustrated putting them up, and c) them looking gaudy as hell.

We haven't put our decs up yet. My dad goes into respite for a week tomorrow so were gonna do them in the week ready for when he gets home. I think were gonna need all new ones this year as they are kept in the but half the roof of it caved in so theve probably been exposed to the elements. Can't wait to get the tree up. When it is i'll put up a photo. Wheres yours Homer?

My bluetooth is refusing to play ball. I may have another option... hang on - I'll try to get a nice one of the garland too.

okies, here we go. Sorry they're a bit blurry, they were with my phone.

The rectangular thing mid way up, to the left of the tree as you look at it is the advent calendar...

and the garland:

The photo is an old one of my son, but it's really hard to make out so I didn't mind it being in the pic.

They're great Homer. The garland looks like it was well worth all the effort and you can't make out anything in the photo

I considered posting the pic that I took with the flash on, but it showed it for the twig it is...! Mind you, it did show our combination of tasteful red baubles, and traditional wooden/felt/home made decorations

Come on folks, let's have more trees! I'll edit them into a forest for Christmas then! Or maybe a wood. Or, if we don't get many, a copse...

Mine's Carol of the Bells.  I love that one.

I've ordered the Home Alone Soundtrack mainly just for that.

I was going to wait until I had moved into the new place to show you all the tree, but seeing as that will now only be happening the weekend before Christmas () I thought I'd show you my mum's tree.  This year she's chucked out all the mismatched decorations that had accumulated over the years.  There were some in the box that I remember putting on the tree when I was tiny!

So here's our tree:

Crikey this is looking good on the Christmas tree front... great trees from Pettsy and Homer, however I think I will just settle for a fibre optic this year, however loving the decs in Newcastle at the moment and the nostalgic markets that they have on... also the works Christmas parties have been blooming great, great free booze and venues a plenty, next up the Christmas visit to the Niece and Nephews and thats when it will be spectacular, I also think its probably time to dig out the Christmas DVD's and TV xmas specials... Bernard and The Genie anyone???

Oh that was fantastic!!  Why don't they make things like that now?!  You don't even get brilliant things like The Snow Queen or Patrick Stewart in A Christmas Carol anymore.
