Y'know, I'm really tempted to watch it this year. I have minimal assemblage for this year's presents. Last year I had a huge wooden castle to slot together, and the year before that I was wrestling with a trampoline. The year before that I was trying to put a motorised mini quad together. This year I just have a little wooden washing machine and cooker to slot together, leaving more time for Yippeekayayeing.

To my shame I still have to get it.  Although it's normally on somewhere on Christmas Eve.  It will be in this bleedin' log cabin anyway!

I've never had any sort. Seems interesting tho.

I'm also thinking of making some mince pies the traditional way - with proper minced beef. sounds weird, but that's how it was made apparently!

Yep!  With spiced fruit in it.

I used to make my own mince pies, with my own homemade mincemeat.  Not for children or people wishing to drive I hasten to add.  I normally started making it in September and just kept adding more brandy or rum to it.  Lurvely.

Lucky sod!

Re mince pies - if you start in September, I guess I'm a bit late to start doing 'proper' ones now then?

you know - marks and spencers hav a 3 for 2 offer

what you can do is buy 3 really expensive items and get the third free, then a few days later - return the two that you paid for, get your money back and you dont have to give back the free item. as a customer assistant there, we arnt aloud to ask for third item back.

thats just not any free item, its and m and s free item.

Had my very first mince pie last night - then I spent to entire evening ill on the sofa. Mr Homer didn't make this one though, I ate it at a meeting in school although highly doubt my sickness was caused from this!
I'm getting so excited now about christmas! I've helped around 50 children in school write their christmas lists and it has been great fun! Making decorations too! Picked our 2 year old up from nursery yesterday and they have the most beautifully decorated real tree I've ever seen with a scene of a fire place built - just lovely!
Meant to be heading into Cardiff for the christmas fair on the weekend - tee heee!

I've got my folks coming this weekend, well Sunday.  They'll be here until Tuesday.  It's my stepdad's birthday on Monday which means after they've buggered off, me and the Funklet can get sorted on putting up the tree!

I was forced to put up the department Christmas tree this morning. One of my co-workers is apparently extremely concerned I'm not my usually 'annoyingly perky festive' self.

Tram-am-poline! Tra-pamp-o-leene!

My parents always assembled my larger gifts (I got a rocking-horse one year, spoiled only child that I am) before Christmas, so I woke up and went to the tree to find ready-to-play-with gifts waiting, and they had Christmas Day free to get graudally hammered, which is a long-standing Christmas Day tradition in my family that I am proud to be upholding now.

And you have to watch Die Hard at Christmas, and also Jurassic Park. It was on over Christmas for several years in a row, and now I have a permenant mental association of Christmas & dinosaurs attacking Sam Neil.

I do all my assembling on Christmas Eve, after they've gone to bed. Other than the aforementioned wooden toys, I'm wondering whether to construct the Transformers Scalextric (I admit, it's for me too!) around the Christmas tree base, or leave it put together with Jacob...

How cool is this? For my daughter, obviously...

Click for a brilliant cover of a traditionally overplayed song for this year. Heard it on the radio yesterday, and love it. I'm guessing it was recorded from the radio, because it cuts out right at the end, but otherwise great stuff.

Also, what is everyone's favourite Christmas Carol, and Christmas Song?

Favourite Carol is definitely In The Bleak Midwinter. Not sure about Christmas Song. The Darkness' was great a few years back.

If it's anything like the time my Dad got my brother a Scalextric for Christmas then Jacob won't get a look in.  My Dad thought it would be good to leave it to Christmas Day and set it up with my brother but not a chance.  My Dad wouldn't let him touch one piece
