Only just seen it, I think it was instinctive but if he'd connected with Arteta's face, he'd be rightly banned. Very out of character but the commentators probabyl should have discussed it more. It was a punch, although my 4 year old daughter would have thrown harder than that.

Yeah, I'm not going to be super annoyed about it since it was a wussy throw, but making contact with Arteta's handsome face and making weak contact with his torso have similar intent so I'm surprised that the FA has chosen to take no action (...). I'm reminded of something like the Gervinho on Joey Barton incident last season, where the force of the blow didn't mitigate the punishment the player got.

Keown was pretty spineless about it on MOTD, firstly implying that Arteta didn't win the ball cleanly and then saying Owen did nothing. Maybe if someone who wasn't a regular pundit on the show had done it, he might have said something different.

International break injury update: Ramsey out with a calf strain before the Wales match has even started, Cazorla seemingly turned his ankle in the Spain/Uruguay match. THANKS AGAIN MIDWEEK INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Cazorla is in my fantasy football team which I've only just remembered about now. Curses!

Don't worry though, you've got Abou Diaby, he'll be like a new signing. Right?

If you think your FF team is finished, spare a thought for the IRL team he plays for and their impending slide into relegation. sad times.

But you're right, Diaby is like a new signing (not to mention the fact that we bought the best player at the African Cup of Nations, Gervinho http://hereisthecity.com/2013/02/04/arsene-wengers-outrageous-gervinho-comments/ ). Thank you Wenger for strengthening the squad in January like this.

More news: seemingly Cazorla was alright to play 90 minutes after all, but Koscielny went off at half-time against Germany with 'calf pain'. we draw ever closer to the inevitable horror of Andre Santos vs. Thomas Muller in the CL.

To be honest, Arsenal are going to get mullered Santos or no Santos. Bayern are just superior all over the pitch.

when Sagna is playing at CB, it's obvious that defensive options are a bit short at the moment. with that in mind, Jenks needs to BE COOL instead of getting sent off.

I hope Scott didn't take Santi out of his FF team earlier this week because of me.

We've been the better team so far, hopefully can get a second before HT so it doesn't get edgy later (I can still see a red card somewhere today).

So far one of the better performances of the season. Unfortunately Giroud has been one of the weaker players breaking down many fine moves. But the passing and movement has been mesmeric at times and Arsenal are actually closing down - which lead to the goal, Arsene!

based Brian Kerr pointing out how well Ramsey has been playing. the co-commentator doesn't seem to have a clue.

I wonder if he'll take off someone for Miquel and go back to four defenders? This game is going as I feared it would, alas.

really, MON had the right idea by taking off Cattermole at HT. it was pretty clear that Jenkinson was heading for a red card, so subbing him off for Miquel and moving Sagna to RB seems like an obvious thing to do.

who is the co-commentator on this match? Repeatedly saying 'he should get that on target' is not insight.
