Did it not click when Wenger said he had a war chest open to him that you were unlikely to sign anyone?

I think next year Arsenal should give the fans what they want. Sack Arsene on the eve of deadline day. Quickly appoint 'Arry. Then the day after deadline day, give the job back to Arsene. And lo and behold, lots of transfer action, half a dozen new signings and Crouch will all be yours.

apparently maybe possibly apparently, WE NACHO MONREAL NOW. a really good signing if it happens, though he's cup-tied for the CL.

Watching deadline day instead of doing any work all afternoon has led to my brain rapidly degenerating. I can maintain lucidity briefly if I concentrate for long enofd\p\er'gpoajept#y-p4'ojh4mer@rgapnj4ebnorv;arg

Diame signing a new contract at West Ham apparently. Though if I was an Arsenal fan I'd be wanting more than just him through the door anyway. In the next five hours. Hmm.

Didn't really want Diame *that* much to be honest. I'd rather get Wanyama for that position.

Arsenal statement....

From BBC Sport's David Ornstein: "Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Malaga left-back Nacho Monreal.

"The clubs have agreed fee in the region of 10m euros (8.3m).

"The 26-year-old Spain international will now discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

"Arsenal had been monitoring Monreal for some time but decided to make their move after Kieran Gibbs suffered a thigh strain in Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool."

^ Obvious dye job Arsene.

Don't count your chickens too early. Until he signature is signed, sealed and deliver you'll must always asume Arsenal will mess up the deal.

To be honest, as I'm not an Arsenal fan it concerns me not one jot. Unfortunatley, Janine did not yell "You got one!"

No defensive midfielder.

No striker.

No centreback.

Hope you guys are looking forward to Europa League next year.

Gibbs out for six weeks and Nacho cup tied so we're stuck with Santos at left full for the Bayern games. Whey!

Unless he pushes Verm out left again and plays Mertesacker and Koscielny in the centre.

Even though LB was the defensive position in least need of first team investment (obviously a replacement for Santos was needed etc), Monreal is an improvement on Gibbs so I'm happy that the first eleven is even slightly better than it was yesterday. Plus this chant will surely have to happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CWK5Tzss8Q

W-what is a 'routine victory'

took a while to get the goal (and beating Stoke with a setpiece, lol), but the way they set out and the way we played meant that a win was kind of inevitable (Stoke timewasting after 35 minutes, double lol). Nacho looked really good, Arteta's return gave the midfield extra stability and Michael Owen and Ryan Shawcross are both massive cunts. Plus Chelsea losing and Everton drawing makes today a good day.

...and of course Tony Pulis has been whining about teams spending more to beat him, even though Stoke have a net spend of 80m in the last five seasons (to Arsenal's -36m as it happens). any day where that loathsome baseball cap-wearing turd gets to cry more is a great day.

I'm sure he's a lovely person on a day-to-day basis but his attempt to punch Arteta (after a perfectly fine tackle, might I add) was a pretty cunty thing to do. The commentators just kind of ignored it though, which was kind of funny since he's hardly an important England international these days.
